Johnny Depp Lost His Libel Suit Against The Sun

Johnny Depp threw a lawsuit at News Group Newspapers, publisher of The Sun, and The Sun’s executive editor, Dan Wootton, for calling him a “wife beater” who physically abused Amber Heard during their marriage, which lasted from 2015 to 2017. Johnny’s lawyers admitted to him having a problem with booze and drugs but denied he abused Amber. Johnny’s just a docile pile of chunky rings, Santa Fe gift shop bracelets, and neck cheese-covered scarves who would never hurt a fly, even it was chilling out on a revenge turd that he believes Amber put in his bed. Johnny claimed that Amber was the violent mess in their relationship, but this case wasn’t about if Amber was violent. It was about Johnny, and the court ruled that there was enough evidence to prove that he did physically abuse Amber. You hear that the marketing team of Johnny’s next movie? You can go ahead and introduce him as Academy Award nominee and court-certified wife beater™ Johnny Depp.

The trial versus Johnny Depp and The Sun wrapped up in September after his side repeatedly painted Amber Heard as a vindictive and manipulative abuser and The Sun’s side argued that Johnny was abusive during his marriage, and they brought out Amber who testified about the alleged abuse and said that being with Johnny fucked with her career and money. The Guardian says that today, High Court judge Mr Justice Nicol laid out his decision in a 129-page ruling (which you can read here), and said that after going over the 14 allegations of abuse, he believes that Johnny did assault Amber and that her allegations against him messed with her career:

In the 129-page ruling, the judge, Mr Justice Nicol, said: “The claimant [Depp] has not succeeded in his action for libel … The defendants [the Sun and News Group Newspapers] have shown that what they published in the meaning which I have held the words to bear was substantially true.

The judge added: “I have found that the great majority of alleged assaults of Ms Heard by Mr Depp have been proved to the civil standard.”

He also said he accepted Heard’s evidence that the allegations she made against Depp “have had a negative effect on her career as an actor and activist”.

“I have reached these conclusions having examined in detail the 14 incidents on which the defendants rely as well as the overarching considerations which the claimant submitted I should take into account. In those circumstances, parliament has said that a defendant has a complete defence.”

In 12 out of the 14 incidents of assault reported by Heard, the judge said he found the allegations proved. “I do not regard [the Sun’s] inability to make good these allegations [in the other two incidents] as of importance in determining whether they have established the substantial truth of the words that they published.”

Justice Nicol also defended Amber against Johnny calling her a dirty gold digger, because Justice Nicol believes that no self-respecting gold digger would donate her divorce settlement to charity. And Justice Nicol believes that Johnny showed his real feelings about Amber in an email where he wished death upon her:

In his conclusion, Nicol cited an email sent by Depp in August 2016 as indicative of the actor’s true feelings towards Heard. Depp’s message said: “I have no mercy, no fear and not an ounce of emotion or what I once thought was love for this gold digging, low level, dime a dozen, mushy, pointless dangling overused flappy fish market … I can only hope that karma kicks in and takes the gift of breath from her … Sorry man … But NOW I will stop at nothing!!!”

And the breakout star of the trial was a literal piece of shit, which is fitting for that sewer flood of a trial. Johnny claimed that Amber or one of her friends shit in their bed to get back at him, and Amber believed it was a weed-induced shit from her dog Boo. Justice Nicol thinks it was Boo’s poo too, via Page Six:

Nicol noted that it happened when Depp was away, meaning “it was Ms. Heard who was likely to suffer from the feces on the bed, not him.”

“It was, therefore, a singularly ineffective means for Ms. Heard or one of her friends to ‘get back’ at Mr. Depp,” he wrote.

He also noted evidence that one of Heard’s dogs, Boo, “had an incomplete mastery of her bowels after she had accidentally consumed some marijuana.”

Who knew that Justice Nicols is a poet?! The next time you shit yourself, or caca on the dick during butt sex, or tear up a friend’s toilet, turn that moment into a classy one by saying, “I’m sorry, I had an incomplete mastery of my bowels.”

The Sun celebrated their victory by reminding everyone that they are a literary journal of high moral standards:

“The Sun has stood up and campaigned for the victims of domestic abuse for over 20 years. Domestic abuse victims must never be silenced, and we thank the judge for his careful consideration and thank Amber Heard for her courage in giving evidence to the court.”

Johnny’s lawyer, Jenny Afia, of course, spit at the decision and said that they will appeal:

“This decision is as perverse as it is bewildering. Most troubling is the judge’s reliance on the testimony of Amber Heard, and corresponding disregard of the mountain of counter-evidence from police officers, medical practitioners, her own former assistant, other unchallenged witnesses and an array of documentary evidence which completely undermined the allegations, point by point. All of this was overlooked.

“The judgment is so flawed that it would be ridiculous for Mr Depp not to appeal this decision.”

Amber’s US lawyer, Elaine Charlson Bredehoft, said in a statement that the verdict wasn’t a surprise and said that they’re ready to fight Johnny again in his defamation case against Amber. Johnny sued Amber in Virginia for calling herself a survivor of domestic abuse in a Washington Post op-ed piece, even though she never named Johnny. Amber is countersuing Johnny, and that trial has been scheduled to start May 3, 2021.

I wonder if Johnny kept that shit in his bed because he might need to put on it eBay to pay for all his lawyer bills. And I also wonder what noted Depp defender (Deppfender?) Sia has to say about this? I guess if you see a mound of Top Ramen walking the streets, it’s either Sia hiding her Depp-defending face in shame, or Sia just being Sia.
