Lorde Is Still Dating A 41-Year-Old Music Industry Executive

It’s been a while since we checked in with 23-year-old moody singer Lorde. You know you haven’t been putting in a ton of public face time when the hashtag #FreeLorde starts trending because everyone thinks you were secretly put in jail (she wasn’t). But Lorde recently popped her head out in public, and she brought along her 41-year-old boyfriend with her.

The Daily Mail says that Lorde was seen for the first time in eighteen months, and she was joined by Justin Warren, who she has allegedly been dating since last year. Justin is a music industry executive, and he and Lorde have been dating since she was 22. They were seen walking around Auckland, New Zealand, where Lorde is from, and kissing in a way that says, “Don’t worry, we’re in each other’s COVID bubble.”

Lorde is a very private person (seriously, her Instagram account has three posts, the most recent being from two years ago). So we don’t know anything about how these two got together. But they’ve known each other for a while. At least four years to be exact! In 2016, Lorde and Justin were seen hanging out on New Zealand’s Piha Beach together, which forced Justin to deny they were dating, telling the press they were just, “good friends.” Justin would have been 37 at the time, while Lorde had just turned 19 a couple of months earlier.

Lorde has been linked in the past to New Zealand photographer James Lowe, from 2013 to 2016. Not long after they broke up, she was seen at a BRIT Awards afterparty with Diplo, which was kind of awkward, considering her very good friend Taylor Swift reportedly hated him. Also, something to note: Lorde would have been 19 when she was hanging out with Diplo, while he would have been – wait for it – 37. Okay, now things are weird.

But if anything, Justin isn’t too old for Lorde; Lorde is likely too old for Justin. Spiritually, speaking. Lorde looks young, but she’s got the soul of a mournful 175-year-old Victorian ghost. It’s got to be a challenge for Justin not to repeatedly ask, “So wait, which one is the parlor again? And do I want my sloe gin fizz served in what kind of glass?”
