Jennifer Lawrence “Confronted” Anderson Cooper For Suggesting She Faked Her Oscar Fall

When Jennifer Lawrence won the Best Actress Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook in 2013, she went up to get that golden hunk statue and ate the staircase like the clumsy fool she is. That’s right, Jennifer would go on to fall numerous times after that and each one was more authentic than the one before–so she claimed. There were some among us who thought her falling was part of a greater conspiracy, and one of those people apparently was Anderson Cooper. Jennifer wasn’t having it and she said that she “confronted” the CNN anchor about the fall and made sure the message was clear: She was clumsy!

UsWeekly says the former Republican appeared on Heather McMahan‘s podcast Absolutely Not with Heather McMahan. She talked about all the quirky shit, like how she’d rather watch Ace Ventura than a “three-hour Japanese film with subtitles” and, you know, all that other Relatable™ shit Jennifer is so good at. And then they talked about the Oscars Moment. Jennifer said she was “nervous” and “very superstitious” beforehand and didn’t want to even write an acceptance speech.

“I didn’t want to acknowledge the possibility that I would win. I didn’t want to write down a speech. I had everything in my head. I was very, very nervous but I was ready. All of the adrenaline clears out and they call my name and I’m elated and I’m in shock. … And then I fell, and it erased everything from my mind. My full brain went blank.”

She said she can now look back on the moment “fondly” but “for a very long time, the fall thing was very sensitive.” And that’s why it burned when Anderson accused her of staging the fall:

“I saw him on CNN three days [after the Oscars] saying, “Well, she obviously faked the fall.” It was so devastating because it was this horrific humiliation to me. I don’t know if I’ll ever have a chance to give a speech like that again, so it didn’t feel good for me not to have a speech.”

Months later, Jennifer bumped into Anderson at a holiday party and she “let him know” how she felt.

“My friend told me a vein was bulging out of my eyes. He apologized. I think we’re good friends now. On my end, we’re all good. What I led with was, “Have you ever tried to walk up stairs in a ball gown? So then how do you know?” He apologized immediately and said he didn’t know and gave this wonderful apology. I was all fired up … He probably told everyone I was a psycho.”

I guess Anderson Cooper has crossed many people in his life. Though Jennifer’s bulging eye veins probably didn’t instill nearly the same amount of fear as those KPop stans.
