Jared Leto Is Reprising His Role As The Joker In “Zack Snyder’s Justice League”
Don’t look now but that slimy thing you just slipped on is not a banana peel! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jared Leto is back to his old tricks (even though he’s allegedly only into young ones) as The Joker and is currently filming scenes for Zack Snyder’s Justice League, a movie so shitty they had to make it twice!
Jared’s had a bummer summer since Mars Island, his band Thirty Seconds To Mars’ second annual cult gathering in Croatia, had to be postponed until next summer due to COVID-19. So I imagine the opportunity to slip into those old familiar Joker grills he wore in Suicide Squad and create a little chaos, was a welcome distraction from posting an endless stream of thirsty selfies on Instagram. Besides, Jared’s not about to let Joaquin Phoenix have the last laugh! THR reports:
Zack Snyder’s new Justice League cut is getting some killer laughs.
Jared Leto, who played classic DC villain the Joker in 2016’s Suicide Squad, has joined in the shooting of additional footage for the “Snyder Cut,” the filmmaker’s definitive version of the 2017 superhero movie he was forced to exit and never saw through completion, multiple sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.
Shooting is currently underway with Ben Affleck, Ray Fisher and Amber Heard among those involved, on top of Leto. It is unclear which other actors are included.
Jared’s Joker didn’t appear in Joss Whedon’s version of Justice League that was released in theaters. Joss took over directing duties and did extensive rewrites and reshoots after Zack dropped out due to a family tragedy. Variety adds that “it’s unclear” if Zack meant for him to be in it before he left the production. But his so-called Snyder Cut is going to be four hours long and “will air as a four-episode event series next year” on HBO MAX. So he’s got to pad that shit somehow. Variety speculates at what Jared’s role might be.
“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” also directed by Snyder, features a shot of the costume for Batman’s sidekick Robin with “Ha Ha Ha Joke’s on you Batman” spray-painted overtop — a reference to the Batman comic storyline in which the Joker kills Robin. Leto’s appearance in “Justice League” could further unpack this storyline within the DC Films universe.
Maybe because Jared knows the last thing we need right now is to see another unhinged troll making a mockery of civilized society, Jared softened the blow by tweaking his nips to attention and posting a selfie on Instagram reminding people to vote.
