Lily James Cancelled Two Interviews In The Wake Of Her Dalliance With Dominic West

Graham Norton was scheduled to interview the giant purple bruise on Lily James’ thigh, hopefully to ask it how it was born, but it looks like we’re not going to get any answers anytime soon. According to The Sun, new eye-witness accounts of Lily making out with her married friend Dominic West are making it increasingly impossible for anyone to believe that their trip to Rome was all perfectly innocent. The Daily Mail reports that Lily just cancelled a scheduled appearance on The Graham Norton Show for Friday, and Page Six says that she and her Rebecca costar Armie Hammer (who has been experiencing some personal drama of his own) both pulled out of a Today show appearance at the last moment. It was scheduled for this morning. If Dominic was a real gent he’d offer Lily a softball interview on his own morning show, What Is Happening?!?, which he hosts from his front lawn. He did it for his wife, only fair he should do it for his (alleged) mistress. Mistresses got to eat too!

While Dominic was busy promoting his perfect marriage, Lily was supposed to be out promoting her new movie Rebecca in which she plays a woman who is repeatedly told she ain’t shit compared to her new husband’s aristocratic first wife. So I can see how things might get a bit awkward. According to Page Six:

Lily James has canceled a planned appearance on the “Today” show after being pictured cavorting with married co-star Dominic West, Page Six is told.

James was slated to appear live on the third hour of the NBC show on Monday to promote her new Netflix drama “Rebecca,” alongside co-star Armie Hammer.An NBC source confirmed that James and Hammer had canceled their “Today” show interview.

The British actress, 31, who has the lead role in the adaption of Daphne du Maurier’s famous novel, was then due to continue her week of promotion with a spot on Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show” on Thursday. It’s not yet known whether she’ll still appear.

We know Jimmy’s not going to be asking the hard questions so she might keep that slot (she’s still on the schedule), but apparently, she’s not taking any chances with Graham. (via The DM):

The star, 31, was scheduled to be a guest on the BBC chat show on Friday to promote her Netflix drama Rebecca, alongside music legend Bruce Springsteen, actor Matthew McConaughey and British singer-songwriter Sam Smith.

But her appearance has been dropped, following further revelations about her intimate weekend in Rome with married co-star Dominic West, 50, in the Italian capital last weekend.

We’ve already seen pictures of Lily and Dominic in Rome over the weekend, “cavorting” on scooters, and “canoodling” “lusty nuzzling” at lunch. But The Sun talked to some people who were on the same British Airways flight from London to Rome of the pair who said they saw them French kissing on the plane. London to Rome is like a 2-hour flight and these two apparently couldn’t keep their COVID caves covered for any of it.

And a shocked witness on the BA trip said: “I recognised him instantly but wasn’t sure who she was.

“At first, I thought she was his daughter, as I knew he was around 50 and you could tell she was a lot younger.

“Within minutes of the plane leaving, they began kissing and cuddling after both removed their masks.

“They looked like a couple heading for a dirty weekend and they were all over each other. They were French kissing and there was a lot of necking going on.”

First of all, the fact that Lily starred in a whole entire big-budget Cinderella movie for Disney but still didn’t warrant the same recognition that old McNutty from The Wire got, is truly a testament to the power of having what they call in the industry a fucking mug. Second of all, just, ew.

The businessman who saw him with Lily on the flight added: “I didn’t know who she was until I saw the story in the paper about him and her in Rome.

“To be honest, the reason I’m speaking out is because of that cringing statement and photocall he and his wife gave.

“When they were on the plane they behaved very much like a couple. He was whispering passionately in her ear while they kissed.”

There are also new pictures of them at the airport last Monday, a day after their weekend Rome pics came out:

The DM adds that Dominic and Lily have known each other for years and worked together previously on a 2011 production of Othello (Desdemona for her, Iago for him). Given Dominic’s past remarks about fidelity and monogamy, I’d be shocked if he and his wife Catherine FitzGerald don’t have some sort of arrangement in place. Their note to the paparazzi didn’t deny he was cramming his hoof into Cinderella’s slipper, only that their marriage is strong and they’re still together. But the way they’re playing it, Lily’s the only one who’s missing work over this mess. She should insist on being invited to the lawn on the next episode of What Is Happening?!?.
