David Crosby Responded To The Shit He Got Over Calling Eddie Van Halen “Meh”
David Crosby: sperm donor to Melissa Etheridge, father figure to Drew Barrymore, and the black sheep of my beloved Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. None of the band members will speak to David anymore. Not Stills, not Nash, and certainly not Young (David called Neil Young’s wife, THEE Daryl Hannah, a “purely poisonous predator”). So yeah, for an old hippy folk singer, 79-year-old David isn’t known for being super chill. So it’s not surprising that he pissed off people on Twitter last week. In response to a fan asking for his opinion on the late Eddie Van Halen, David tweeted, “Meh”. Uh oh.

The “Meh” heard round the world ignited a firestorm of anger towards David. Eddie had died just 4 days before, to “meh” away the legendary guitarist’s career struck them as offensive. David kinda apologized and tried to explain himself:

David finally admitted he’d made a mistake, claiming that he didn’t even remember Eddie had just died:

Hmmm, I’d raise my eyebrows at the whole “I didn’t remember a celebrity died four days ago” defense if this wasn’t David Crosby we were talking about. Dude’s been a pothead for more than half a century. He’s even launching his own cannabis brand, “Mighty Croz”. And way back in the day, the C in CSNY battled cocaine and heroin addiction. So, yeah, I totally buy that news of Eddie’s death went in one ear and went out the other. But only after a disorienting trek through the wackadoo corn maze that is David’s weed-addled brain.
