Meghan Markle Discusses Being 2019’s Most Trolled Person In The World
People reports both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle sat down with a group of high school students from Anaheim, CA for their Teenager Therapy podcast on October 10, World Mental Health Day, to discuss the good and bad side of social media and how it affects people’s mental health. Meghan talked about being pregnant with Archie and going on maternity leave, and said at that time, she was told that she was troll enemy #1 for all the shit she got and said it was almost “unsurvivable.”
When the subject of social media came up on the podcast, Meghan said that even though she was out of the royal spotlight for a big chunk of 2019, she was told that she was to trolls what chum is to sharks. They ate her ass up and the lies that the tabloids spread took a toll on her.
“Yes it’s a great way to connect, but it also ends up being a place where there’s a lot of disconnection,” Meghan said. “I can speak personally too, I’m told that in 2019 I was the most trolled person in the entire world, male or female.”
“I don’t care if you’re 15 or you’re 25, if people are saying things about you that aren’t true, what that does to your mental and emotional health is so damaging,” Meghan said.
During that year, Meghan was pregnant with son Archie and she recalled: “Now, 8 months of that I wasn’t even visible — I was on maternity leave or with a baby. But what was able to be manufactured and churned out, it’s almost unsurvivable.”
Harry also chimed in and took up for his ride or die wifey by letting everyone know that while the public was tearing her down every chance they could Meghan was doing double duty by breastfeeding Archie and still showing up for all her royal obligations. She even addressed the moment when ITV asked her how she was doing and she responded with the polite version of “Not fucking great!”
During the discussion, Meghan also mentioned her headline-making comment that she was “not okay” when she was asked by ITV journalist Tom Bradby how she was doing just after welcoming Archie.
“I was tired,” she said of the interview, which took place during the couple’s tour of South Africa. “I was just about to give Archie a bath. I was exhausted.”
If Meghan saying that she was the most trolled person of 2019 was her way of making the trolls lose it even more and combust, it probably worked. I’m sure that Emily Giffin’s keyboard is nothing but ash right now from her flaming it up while violently typing at least 698,985 tweets on her secret Twitter about this.
