A Judge Handed Dr. Dre A Small Financial Win In His Fight Against Nicole Young

Dr. Dre, whose real name is Andre Romelle Young, and his estranged wife of 24 years, Nicole Young, are currently in the middle of a messy divorce fight. Nicole has claimed Dr. Dre dramatically tore up their prenup two decades ago in an act of love. Nicole also requested $2 million a month in temporary spousal support. She has also accused Dr. Dre of secretly transferring trademarks to a holding company, while he has accused her of burning through money like she’s starring in her own Lifetime movie about a scorned wife’s revenge.

Well, we’re on to the next episode. And things have recently taken an abrupt swerve south for Nicole’s financial goals. TMZ is reporting that a judge has just shot down her request for Dr. Dre to fork over $5 million for her legal expenses and $1.5 million for security guards.

Nicole had previously asked the judge to accelerate her request for Dre to pay her legal bills, which she allegedly needs $5 million for. The judge denied that request. Nicole’s lawyers also asked that Dr. Dre cut Nicole a check for $1.5 million so she can pay her security team. Stress on her team, because she used to have a security team, but it was paid for and chosen by Dr. Dre. But she didn’t want Dr. Dre’s choice of security, so she picked her own. The only problem is, Dr. Dre isn’t willing to pay for such an expensive security team.

She claimed Dre was too controlling and wanted to hire security on her own. She claimed Dre threatened to fire the security if they didn’t follow his orders. The judge rejected her request, and Dre’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, told the judge Dre is still willing to pay all of Nicole’s expenses pending the divorce, including security. The judge ordered that Nicole could select a private security company for her personal protection, but it can’t cost more than Dre was paying.

Nicole claims she needed a new team because she’s been getting death threats from strangers on the internet. The judge threw out Nicole’s request for Dr. Dre to foot her security bill, partly because there are “serious domestic violence cases” they have to deal with, and this isn’t one of them. Except for this part:

The judge did say, however, if Dre exercised control over Nicole, she could file for a restraining order.

I’m sure Dr. Dre’s legal team will be quick to say something petty, like that the only control Nicole needs to exercise is some restraint over her spending. But since the judge put that energy out there, Nicole might have reason to file for a restraining order against her allegedly controlling estranged husband. She wouldn’t even need that much evidence, I’m sure. She could just show the judge this old Dr. Pepper commercial. Controlling? Not only does Dr. Dre push that DJ away from his own DJ setup, but he also doesn’t even wash the sticky Dr. Pepper from his hands first. Controlling AND rude!
