Donald Glover Also Welcomed A Secret Quarantine Baby
At this point in quarantine, it’s like playing Mad Libs when it comes to celebrity personal life gossip. No one really knows what anyone is doing, and then suddenly it’s like – surprise! – she had a secret baby. The only thing is, it’s not even that random to be reporting that Donald Glover is part of the quarantine secret daddy club, because he’s been doing the secret daddy thing for years now. And now he’s a three-time member.
People magazine reports that Donald slipped his new baby news into a recent interview he did with I May Destroy You’s creator and star Michaela Coel for GQ, after his oldest son Legend (also formerly a secret) crashed their Zoom call. Donald explains that his third son was born after the U.S. went into COVID-19 lockdown, around the same time as the murder of George Floyd.
“Yeah, it was nuts. I was in the hospital bed. My son had just been born, like, an hour before and I was watching the George Floyd video. It was such a weird moment. It was such an intense, weird moment, because I’m watching that video and it’s like eight minutes long, so you’re sitting there and I had just had this amazing, joyful, expanding moment, plus my dad had passed away recently, so [my son] was named after my father…I don’t even know what, really, the word is to describe it. It was just expanding: the empathy and compassion and the terror and the joy of it.”
This is Donald’s third son with his partner, Michelle White. Legend was born sometime in 2016, and their second son, reportedly named Drake Glover, was born sometime in 2018. He also mentioned in his GQ interview that he and Michelle might not be done and that they were open to the idea of adopting a girl since they have three boys.
Donald’s father, Donald Glover Sr., died sometime towards the end of 2018 (Donald made the announcement of his father’s passing during the final night of his This Is America tour a concert in Los Angeles on December 17th). So his new son’s name is also Donald Glover, but this would make him Donald Glover Jr., Donald Glover is now…the new Donald Glover Sr.? I am confused, but not confused enough to call that baby Child o’ Childish Gambino.
