Drew Barrymore’s fuckery-filled daytime talk show just finished up its second week. And yesterday, Drew invited her former husband of 15 months, Tom Green, onto the socially distanced set of her show to catch up on old times. And it was as awkward and cute as you can imagine two exes reuniting on a daytime talk show would be.
For anybody who remembers, Drew and Tom met on the set of Charlie’s Angels, which came out in 2000. And at the time, as Drew can attest to, Tom’s quirky brand of humor managed to really win over the ladies because she married The Chad in July of 2001 before divorcing in October 2002. Tom was Drew’s second husband. She was married to Jeremy Thomas from 1994 to 1995 and her final husband Will Kopelman from 2012 to 2016. I say FINAL because Drew claims her wedding finger will remain without a wedding ring FOREVER.
However, despite Drew’s hatred of wedded bliss, according to People, she invited Tom onto her new talk show and mentioned to the audience that it was the first time the two had spoken in 15 years.
“I have always been attracted to visionaries, comedians and people who make me laugh,” Barrymore, 45, said while introducing Green, 49. “I was so attracted to our next guest I even married him!”
Tom spent his intro talking about how happy he is for Drew and how great her talk show is while stroking his new puppy (that’s not a euphemism). Drew, meanwhile, sat there grinning and beaming, as usual, while reminiscing about how impactful their thirty-seven-minute union was.
“When you say it’s 20 years, sometimes it’s the blink of an eye and sometimes you’re like, Oh my God, we’ve lived so much in these last 20 years. You’ve had a whole life and I’ve had a whole life and it’s just really nice to come together and check-in and talk about it,” Barrymore said. “I think the world of you. I celebrate you and I always have and I always will.”
In all seriousness, the reunion of Drew and Tom was pretty sweet:
Green sweetly told Barrymore his parents, Dick and Mary Jane, “say hello,” adding, “They’re happy for you. We love watching you do amazing things.”
Drew then replied, “I’ve had two nights of great sleep in my life before my daughters were born. I don’t know why but sleep has been a weird thing for me,” she said, adding with emotion, “I remember this night just being so content. I was at your parents’ lake house, and I remember hearing all their voices upstairs. I was by myself and going to sleep and I was like, ‘Yeah, this is what safety and contentedness feels like before you’re going to sleep.’ I love your parents, and I really love you and I celebrate you.”
Annnnnd this just in: Drew is already engaged again! For a minute I thought that Drew was talking about the visionary genius Adam Sandler, but no, the visionary genius she continues to celebrate every day is comedian Tom Green. Here’s their cute reunion:
I’m not sure why I called it a “reunion” because it isn’t an official Drew Barrymore and Tom Green reunion unless they’ve spent at least 45 minutes paying tribute to the heroic Flossie, the dog who saved them both in a house fire in 2001! I’m sure that Tom’s puppy Charlie felt a burning sensation on his face, and that was obviously from Flossie, who died in 2010, throwing a side-eye from heaven that screamed, “You didn’t even save them from a house fire and you get all that screentime?!”
