Tatiana Maslany Will Play She-Hulk On Disney+, And The Internet Has Thoughts

When it was first announced last August that Disney would be working on a She-Hulk series, the internet did what the internet does best – they started dream casting. I’m sure Teresa Giudice thought she had this in the bag, considering she’s got the muscles, she’s great at acting, and can transform into a beast in seconds. One name that popped up over and over again was Alison Brie, who has spent a couple seasons on GLOW flexing, screaming, and beating ass. And at one point, the internet was somewhat convinced she had it. But it looks like Disney is going with Tatiana Maslany.

Both Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter are hearing that Tatiana, formerly of Orphan Black, got the role of She-Hulk. She-Hulk’s real name is Jennifer Walters, and she’s the cousin of Bruce Banner/The Hulk, who is played most notably in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by Mark Ruffalo. She obtains her hulk powers during a blood transfusion, with blood provided by her cousin Bruce. She’s also different from The Hulk because she keeps her intelligence and personality when she turns into her buff green alter-ego. Marvel wouldn’t confirm the news to Deadline, and Tatiana hasn’t said anything about it on social media. But Mark Ruffalo has accepted it as fact and has welcomed Tatiana to the large, green, jacked-up aggressive family:

Because this is She-Hulk we’re talking about, I guess it’s fitting that some Marvel fans are outraged at this news. After Tatiana’s name was reported as the likely choice for She-Hulk, some fans began hulk-smashing their keyboards and letting it be known that Alison Brie was robbed.

This is both hilarious and sad to me. I love Alison Brie, but if you really think Tatiana isn't gonna kill it as She-Hulk then I encourage you to go watch Orphan Black. That show alone showcases her range and power and overall talent.

Alison Brie was aware of the She-Hulk rumors, but she had previously brushed them off. She hasn’t commented on this news, and probably won’t, because she wasn’t cast as She-Hulk. And if those Alison Brie-obsessed fans don’t let it go, they might end up seeing Tatiana go full She-Hulk, after she jumps online and tells them all to shut the fuck up. Don’t make her angry – she’s got to save it for filming!
