TikTok Person, Addison Rae, Will Star In A Gender-Swapped Remake Of “She’s All That”

Since Hollywood hasn’t finished completely fucking with my childhood, a new remake of the 1999’s She’s All That is apparently in the works, starring 19-year-old Addison Rae, the second-most followed (60 million+) person on TikTok. Yep, a TikTok person with no acting experience in a big-budget movie. That’s where we are right now. And if you thought that Hollywood has completely run out of ideas, the new version, which will feature a gender-swapped plotline, is currently titled He’s All That. You know they all high-fived themselves for that one.

According to Variety, the idea for a remake of She’s All That (which is also a remake of My Fair Lady, which is a remake of Pygmalion), has been floating around Hollywood for years, but only started gaining traction again once Mean Girls director, Mark Waters, signed on. R. Lee Fleming, who wrote the 1999 movie, will also write the remake. But honestly, it sounds like he was given the job 5 years ago and he waited until the day before the script was due to actually start working on it, “Okay, instead of a pretty girl in ugly clothes, it’s gonna be a pretty guy in ugly clothes. And, umm, let’s get that girl from TikTok. Aspirin? No, Addison. Okay, done!

He’s All That is the opposite of She’s All That, but if you need to know the plotline, here’s how Variety puts it:

“He’s All That” puts a 21st century spin on the original, with the remake following an influencer who attempts to turn a nerdy boy into prom king.

My first thought is WHY?! My second thought is, who is this Adderall? I’ll tell you who she is NOT Freddie Prinze, Jr. (Or Rachel Leigh Cook). Look, I’m happy for Addison that a lot of people are interested in her 10-second dance videos, but in what universe does that mean she can carry an entire movie? Where’s the actual star power? At least tell me Lil’ Kim will be reprising her role as Alex, one of the pretty, popular girls who you think is going to be mean but turns out to be really nice? Or maybe Anna Paquin? After all, her iconic role as Freddie’s sister, the one who ACTUALLY gives Laney Boggs the 15-minute Sears Beauty Counter makeover, was criminally overlooked. My expectations were low and I’m already disappointed.

With our luck, James Charles will play Atchison’s painfully annoying brother (no acting required) who pretties up some nerdy math geek to look like [insert hot, male TikTok person here––I’m not researching]. And I bet that Acetate’s cool mom will be played by her real-life “best friend,” 41-year-old Kourtney Kardashian.

What am I saying? Kourtney probably thinks that she can play Atchoo’s high school friend.

I don’t know this Atkins girl, and I’m sure she’s lovely, but I really hope this movie fails so that we can squash this idea of putting TikTok stars on the big screen. After this horrible 2020, where big-budget sequels and superhero flicks have been pushed back into oblivion, haven’t the real movie stars suffered enough?
