Kyle Newman Claims Jaime King Cleared Out Their Bank Accounts

We went the whole summer without really hearing much regarding Jaime King’s divorce from Kyle Newman, which was probably for the best, considering initial reports included accusations of drug abuse (against Jaime) and domestic violence (against Kyle). Things are still a major mess between Jaime and Kyle, but the really dark accusations have been temporarily replaced with an accusation from Kyle, where the only abuse is at the expense of a joint bank account.

Jaime was married to Kyle, a screenwriter and director, for nearly 13 years. They share two sons, James (6), and Leo (5). When Jaime first filed for divorce in May, she also filed for a protective order against Kyle. Kyle denied he was a bad husband, claiming he was parenting their sons on his own, and adding that he hoped Jaime gets, “the help she needs.” Later, Jaime accused Kyle of gaslighting and trauma, while he claimed Jaime was very into booze and pills and refused to go to rehab.

And now Kyle’s claiming he can’t even parent properly because Jaime took all the money. According to court documents filed on September 2nd and recently obtained by Us Weekly, Kyle has requested that Jaime start paying his legal fees, which he can’t do, because Jaime allegedly “emptied and closed” their joint bank accounts. As such, he now has “limited access to funds.” You might be wondering where’s Kyle’s money? He says he had to pass on jobs because his full-time job was taking care of their sons and he couldn’t trust Jaime to be sober enough to be a parent.

Since the children’s birth‚ Jaime has rarely been alone with the children,” Newman claimed in the docs. “I do not recall her ever taking them anywhere by herself – there has always a nanny, godparent‚ someone to supervise and help her. By 2015, it became evident to me that Jaime was not capable of taking care of the children – she simply did not have the faculties or ability to take care of them given her substance abuse issues.”

The New Jersey native noted that he “reorganized” his life to care for the kids because of “Jaime’s addiction problems.” Although he is a writer, he claimed that he “could not accept jobs which required me to leave town” so he is now “entirely reliant on Jaime for support of myself and the children.”

A quick peek at Kyle’s IMDb page shows that his last directing project was in 2015, and his last writing project was in 2017. 2015 was also the year Jaime gave birth to their second child Leo. Kyle has claimed in the past that Leo tested positive for drug addiction in utero.

Jaime hasn’t said anything in response to Kyle’s most recent claims. But she might have kind of addressed the SAHD/working mom situation. Last week she threw up a picture of her kids, explaining that she missed their first day of school because she’s a working mom, who has worked really hard to be the one who has provided her kids with a good education. She didn’t add, “Let’s see you try to pay their tuition on your $0 a week salary, KYLE,” so she’s not fully petty.

It doesn’t end at just fighting over money. Kyle is also accusing Jaime of preventing him from getting his stuff (his technical phrasing is that he’s been left “without access” to their family home). If Jaime decides to clean out their house like she (allegedly) cleaned out their bank accounts, then Kyle should probably keep an eye out for the curb. Waiting for a court to grant access to get his stuff won’t be any help if she’s dumped it outside in cardboard boxes.
