Elefun!

Elefun may sound like what Ellen DeGeneres is going to rename her talk to show to further prove that’s really a fun, fun ball of pure kindness, but Elefun, which first came out in the 90s, is the name of a toy made up of a terrifying plastic elephant with a blue trash bag trunk that shoots out some paper candy wrapper-looking shit that was supposed to be butterflies. Yes, I guess Hasbro, which made Elefun, wanted to show the 1980s that the 1990s could also deliver some acid trip fuckery to kids.

Elefun is still sold today, but first came out in 1993. The way it works is that the motorized elephant blows out “butterflies” and you have to try to catch as many as you can with your net. You can catch the ones in the air or scoop up the ones that fell on the floor. The player with the most butterflies in their net gets a token, as does the kid who catches the extremely special blue butterfly. The player who wins three tokens is declared the grand champion of the game. I don’t know if this is Butterfly Queen Mariah Carey’s dream game (because of all the butterflies) or her nightmare game (since it involves standing).Probably her dream since that big long dick jizzes butterflies.

Here’s an Elefun commercial from 1994 that shows that terrifying mess in action. Somewhere there’s probably a grown-up in an eye patch who is cursing at this fucking devil game, because their eyeball got taken out by a net being frantically waved around by their friend.

While Elefun is for little kids and messes who want to make their LSD trips a little more fucked-up, Elefun is definitely not for stoners. Because one look at that disposable bong trunk makes me say, “Let’s pack a bowl and light that bitch up!
