Katy Perry And Orlando Bloom’s Baby Girl Has Been Born

August 27, 2020 / Posted by:

Well, it finally happened. After a nearly year-long gestation (her estimate), and a music video that gave me at least three nights worth of pregnant clown nightmares, Katy Perry has finally given birth to her first child with fiancé, Orlando Bloom. Or rather, it might be more fitting to say that her baby finally blossomed, for reasons which will be very apparent to you in just a minute. Because Katy and Orlando went kitschy with the name.

Despite showing off her third-trimester bump on the cover of People magazine, Katy did not deliver – no pun intended – the exclusive birth news to her good friends at People. Katy and Orlando decided to release the news of their baby’s birth to UNICEF. A dozen confused attention whores just wondered what is UNICEF, and how much are they paying for exclusives. E! News explains that Katy and Orlando chose UNICEF because they wanted to pull a Brangelina and turn their new baby attention into a charitable act.

“We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter. But we know we’re the lucky ones and not everyone can have a birthing experience as peaceful as ours was.

Communities around the world are still experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and every eleven seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes. Since COVID-19, many more newborn lives are at risk because of a greater lack of access to water, soap, vaccines and medicines that prevent diseases. As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathize with struggling parents now more than ever.

As UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors, we know UNICEF is there, on the ground, doing whatever it takes to make sure every expecting mother has access to a trained health worker and access to quality healthcare.”

They have set up a UNICEF donation page, where you can donate to help at-risk births around the world.

But they also announced the birth of their baby in the classic famous people birth announcement tradition, by Instagramming a close-cropped picture of all three of their hands mashed up together. And they let us all know that they named their new baby girl Daisy Dove Bloom.

Daisy is Katy’s first kid and Orlando’s second. He shares a 9-year-old son named Flynn with his ex-wife, Miranda Kerr.

Because this is Katy Perry we’re talking about, I’m actually a little shocked at how restrained that baby name is. Katy is not exactly one for subtlety, and I had $20 on her naming her daughter Firework Meow-meow Lipgloss, so it looks like I’m out $20. Although, she does have a song named Daisies. Daisy Dove Bloom sounds like a second cousin of the Oliver children. But I can’t be mad at a name that sounds exactly like a Bath & Body Works summer scent spray. “Hmmm…do I get the Daisy Bloom, Sun Tea Splash, or Cicada Hum.
