Piers Morgan Thinks The Sussexes Should Be Stripped Of Their Titles For Talking About Voting
If the year was 1820 and not 2020, Piers Morgan might have made a name for himself as The Ye Olde Town Hater. Shuffling endlessly through various city squares in a tri-corner hat large enough for his ego-swollen head, clanging a worn-out bell, screaming, “Your Earl and his wife have been known to enjoy libations prior to mid-day?!? Off with their heads!” In present day, he does pretty much the same thing, except it’s all on Twitter. On Friday, Piers got to hate on one of his favorite couples, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, when he said that they should be stripped of every royal title they have. Can you believe this doesn’t have anything to do with them wearing shorts in public? No, it’s because Meghan spoke about the upcoming American presidential election.
On Thursday, Meghan participated in a video chat for Glamour magazine’s When All Women Vote #CouchParty, in which she spoke about why it’s important to vote. Which makes sense, considering she’s an American citizen and she currently lives in California. Meghan didn’t specifically say, “I’m ridin’ for Biden” or #FuckThatLoserForever. But she did drop a pretty obvious hint about who she might be voting for come November. via People:
“We all know what’s at stake this year. I know it. And all of you certainly know it if you’re here on this fun event with this, then you’re all just as mobilized and just as energized to see the change that we all need and deserve…This fight is worth fighting, and we all have to be out there mobilizing…At this juncture, if we aren’t part of the solution, we’re part of the problem. If you’re complacent, you’re complicit. We can make the difference in this election. And we will make the difference in this election.”
Royal protocol states that royals can’t make political statements, but even when Meghan was a senior royal, she played fast and loose with that rule in the past. The Sun decided to tweet a clip from Meghan’s video chat, and that’s when Piers got SO mad. Piers was LIVID that a former senior royal might possibly have hinted that they won’t be voting for Trump in November. Editor of The Sun Dan Wootton also got in on the Sussex hate.
The Queen must strip the Sussexes of their titles. They can’t remain as royals & spout off about foreign elections in such a brazenly partisan way. https://t.co/6uZ3FTbjHW

Extraordinary! Meghan now actively campaigning against Donald Trump.
Completely inappropriate and a massive diplomatic embarrassment for the Queen and British Royal Family, whose entire success and longevity is based on staying out of party politics. https://t.co/FfRm1Vlfn7— Dan Wootton (@danwootton) August 21, 2020
It’s important to note that Piers is friendly with Trump, while Dan Wootton is vocally anti-Meghan.
Harry and Meghan gave up the use of their “his/her royal highness” titles when they stepped down from their position as senior royals back in January. Technically, Harry is still His Royal Highness Prince Harry, but nobody has to call him that. They were allowed to keep the Duke/Duchess of Sussex titles, as well as the Earl of Dunbarton, and The Baron and Baroness Kilkeel.
Not to mention, no matter how hard they try not to be royals, they will always be royals. Take Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windso. When Archie was born, Harry and Meghan were adamant that Archie would be a normal kid with a regular, childhood in a multi-million dollar Montecito, CA compound. Express UK reports that when Prince Charles becomes King, seventh-in-line Archie will move up a succession level, where he’ll automatically become Prince Archie. When he turns 18, it will be his decision whether he uses his title or not. Express UK also points out that Archie could also possibly be subject to proper marriage protocols, like asking King Charles for permission when he decides to get married.
Archie’s title might be safe, but as for the titles of his parents? Piers wants them all gone, but that’s not going to happen. We all know which royal should be stripped of their titles, and it’s not Harry. Plus, Piers is assuming Queen Elizabeth is just as outraged about Meghan’s election comments as he is. I know she’s supposed to remain neutral, but I’m sure The Queen would be fine if Trump didn’t get elected again in November. The woman is 94. She’s already wasted too many precious minutes of her life waiting around for that tacky man, and doing the most to make sure he never gets the chance to leave bronzer streaks on her guest bed linens. She’s not spending her remaining gin-drinking years suffering through that a second time.
