Chrishell Stause Says Justin Hartley Told Her He Had Filed For Divorce In A Text Message

The overwrought, saccharine sentimental drama that drives the plot of This is Us can keep right on driving straight off the cliff as far as I’m concerned. But I do appreciate the real-life divorce drama of TIU star Justin Hartley that’s spilling out all over the Netflix reality show Selling Sunset which stars his estranged wife Chrishell Stause, a name you really can’t say if your dentures aren’t properly glued down. Justin and Chrishhhhhhhhhhhell, both former soap opera stars, were married for two years when, seemingly out of the blue, Justin “blindsided herby filing for divorce. Now, thanks to her reality show, Chrisssssssshell has the opportunity to relive the drama only this time with superior lighting underscored with soft, vaguely ominous music. In a teary scene fit for daytime TV, Chrisssshhhhell revealed that she found out that Justin had filed for divorce via text message. Drag him, girl! Drag him to Chris-hell and back!

Justin used to be in Passions and The Young and The Restless, and Chrishell used to be on TYATR, Days of Our Lives, and All My Children. Justin and Chrishell got married in 2017 and Justin was previously married to Lindsay Korman who was on Passions, Days, AMC AND General Hospital. Lindsay and Justin share a 16-year-old daughter but I don’t know if I’d trust that given their credits. It’s possible the child was switched at birth by a jealous orderly out for revenge. So it’s unsurprising that Justin’s and Chrishell’s break up would be punctuated with a series of gasps and dun-dun-duns. According to Us Weekly:

Blindsided. Chrishell Stause broke down as she recalled how estranged husband Justin Hartley told her he had filed for divorce. “I found out because he text[ed] me that we were filed,” the Selling Sunset star, 39, said through tears in a clip from season 3 of the Netflix reality series. “Forty-five minutes later, the world knew.”

The actress went on to reveal that she did not think Hartley, 43, was serious about filing the papers. “If that’s really what you wanted, there are better ways to go about [it],” she explained. “I talked to him right after ‘cause I thought that must be a joke, but that was kind of the end of the communication. What am I supposed to say? What do you say after that? It’s like, now I have to find a place to live. Now I have to scramble and figure this out, you know?”

Ok, maybe I oversold the drama a bit. I’m going to require some hair pulling or drink throwing to make these bland blonds palatable. Chrishell went on to say that Justin was often impulsive saying “in a fight, that’s his go-to, you know? Like, ‘I’m out, I’m out.’” but that she figured it was something they would work out. Instead she had to work out where to find a lawyer. Here’s Chrishell telling some kind of deranged Muppet what had happened.

As for Justin, he’s already moved on and is dating, you guessed it, another soap actor! He jumped right in bed with his former TYATR co-star Sofia Pernas. Maybe she’ll turn out to be his long lost sister who is also a ghost.
