Open Post: Hosted By Superman’s Black Suit In The “Snyder Cut” Of “Justice League”

Zack Snyder had to step back from the Justice League movie after the tragic death of his daughter. The film was taken over by Joss Whedon and what ended up getting released was panned by pretty much everybody.

For years people called on the “Snyder Cut” of the film to be released because they believed his version was actually watchable. Zack appeared via video at JusticeCon and spoke to the nerd community all about his cut, which is coming to HBO Max in 2021. He even released a clip featuring Henry Cavill in a black super-suit. The black suit was nixed because the studio apparently hated it. I will wait to give my thoughts until there’s a better shot of Henry’s Superman bulge in that black Superman suit.

CNET says that Zack explained how the studio was 100% against Superman’s darker look:

“I would argue for the black suit all the time and they said it was not a good idea… I knew it was the correct evolution for him after he rose from the dead… But the perception of the black suit was just, “You’re trying to make the movie dark and scary and not hilarious.” And I said, “Well, yeah it’s by the way: not hilarious.” … Help me with that: “It’s gonna be hilarious when he wakes from the dead!”

Zack is sneaky, though. So what he and his team did was agree to the red and blue suit, but they slightly altered it so they could later change things up in post-production:

“I’m like fine, “Yeah we’ll shoot the suit the way it is…” But we had made little adjustments to the suit to dial it to make it contrast a little bit more. We had done some experiments in Photoshop, so we knew how to do it.”

If Superman wants to dress like he’s a member of American Horror Story: Coven then he should! This is technically a re-reveal since Zack revealed a still of the black suit before.

Zack also shat all over Joss Whedon’s version of the movie, so it looks like nobody likes poor Joss. Zack said he’s still “never” seen Justice League and when asked if he would ever use part of Joss’ version, he said:

“I would destroy the movie… I would set it on fire before I use a single frame that I did not photograph.”

Nerdgasms can continue in August, when Zach releases a full teaser trailer at DC FanDome.

Black suit or not, I just hope there’s a scene where Superman builds some kind of suped-up Kryptonian PC in a tank top.
