Kanye West Thanked Dave Chappelle For Flying To Wyoming To Check On Him

Crisis averted! Dave Chappelle flew his ass all the way to Wyoming to check in on Kanye West. Kanye shared a video of himself, Dave, and a few other brothers, thanking Dave for coming to check on him after last night’s tweet storm. Sure it looks like a hostage video and Dave keeps trying to slink away from Kanye’s repeated attempts to get him to make a joke, but it’s no worse than that scene in Goodfellas where Joe Pesci asks if he’s funny like a clown. It’s just a bunch of guys having a laugh after one of them has publicly called his wife a whore and her mother a pimp!

Here’s the video Kanye tweeted. Everything is fine, guys.

See Gap, relax! Kanye’s Brunch Bunch to the rescue. And can somebody find me a number for that cute baby Chris Tucker-looking brother on the end? I have to ask him something is all. The audio isn’t great so here’s People’s summary.

In the footage, West jokes with Chappelle to “please just make us smile, the world needs some, we need some joy, we need to smile.”

“We need some joke, something. Something to like lift our spirits,” West tells Chappelle.

The comedian, 46, then tries to come up with a joke to tell. “Shit, I don’t know, I’m still on my first cup of coffee. Let me think of a good joke,” he adds.

West continues to encourage him, asking for an uplifting joke.

“An uplifting joke? You know I don’t do them,” Chappelle says as the group erupts in laughter before West adds, “Ah, that was it!”

More than a few people responded to Kanye’s tweet with a clip of Dave which was taken from a 2008 interview with James Lipton (for the millionth time, FUCK 2020) where he suggested that calling someone “crazy” is “dismissive,” and that “these people are not crazy. They’re strong people. Maybe the environment is a little sick,” perhaps ignoring the fact that that strong people can also be a little sick.

In that clip, Dave, who is not a licensed medical practitioner, was referring specifically to Martin Lawrence who in 1996 ran into traffic waving a gun screaming “they’re trying to kill me.” He also referenced Mariah Carey’s infamous TRL appearance. As we know, Mariah eventually revealed that she suffers from Bipolar II disorder and did so in an effort to “get to a place where the stigma is lifted from people going through anything alone.” At the very least, it’s good to know Kanye’s not going it alone. Although Dave sure looked like he couldn’t get out of there fast enough! Fingers crossed Kanye can mail him his sleeves if he finds them.
