The Pictures From Princess Beatrice’s Socially Distanced Wedding Are Here
After realizing that a big ass royal wedding was not possible during THESE TIMES, Princess Beatrice and her property developer fiance, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, had themselves a much, much smaller wedding in one of the smaller party rooms at the Pizza Express in Woking. No, but it was a pretty simple affair (for the royals) and now they’ve released pictures of Princess Bea’s socially distanced wedding including the one above of THE QUEEN thinking, “Let’s get this affair on, love, I’ve got work to do!”
As Mieka wrote about on Friday, the intimate, private ceremony took place at All Saints Chapel in Windsor Park and featured about 20 guests––2 of whom were Bea’s grandparents, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. The pictures are sweet and partly because Bea’s dad, Prince Andrew, is nowhere to be seen. He did attend the ceremony––and even walked his daughter down the aisle––with his ex-wife, and Bea’s mom, the Original Fergie, but when it came time to responsibly gather around for pictures, he made his smartest decision yet by opting out. Or more likely, Bea was probably all, “Ere, now daddy, can you fuck off and keep out ah muh weddin’ pho-ohs?” (All English people sound like Adele––I’m English, I can say that).
In fact, Andrew probably just played it cool and left the ceremony early to get back to his online Duolingo classes for when the time comes for him to change his name and move to some remote land after Ghislaine Maxwell starts singing.
But back to Bea! Her wedding look was pretty much all “something borrowed.” She wore a vintage ivory Peau de Soie taffeta dress by Norman Hartnell, which THE QUEEN has worn herself throughout the years and loaned to Bea. THE QUEEN also loaned Bea the Queen Mary diamond fringe tiara, which THE QUEEN wore to her wedding in 1947, and Princess Anne also wore to HER wedding in 1973. It’s apparently a very special tiara to THE QUEEN. via People:
“The Queen saved this grand tiara specifically for Beatrice. It was always reserved for her as they are exceptionally close,” a source tells PEOPLE of the historic tiara, calling it “arguably the most sentimental [piece] lent from the Queen yet.”
THE QUEEN is a special guest of honor wherever she goes, so she, of course, was the special guest of honor at Bea’s wedding. Social distancing was in full effect:
“The Queen was the guest of honor, and it was very important that she was there,” the source tells PEOPLE. “It was planned for some time, and everyone had to be extremely cautious leading up to the big day because the Queen was in attendance. They had to make sure everyone who was attending was in perfect health.”
Below are more pictures of Bea and Edoardo’s wedding. When Princess William and Duchess Kate got married, Bea and her sister, Princess Eugenie, were compared to Cinderella’s Wicked Stepsisters. So these pretty fairytale-like pictures are very Cinderella II: The Wicked Stepsister’s Revenge!
Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice of York and Mr. Mapelli Mozzi have been touched by the warm wishes they have received since their wedding, and are delighted to share two additional photographs of their happy day. #RoyalWedding pic.twitter.com/3OKPHdWrH2
