Dino Pebbles!

Fruity Pebbles are still available on store shelves if you really want your child to bust out into a sugar-inducing tornado of terror like the Tasmanian Devil on the wrong kind of meth. But back in the 80s and 90s, after Fruity Pebbles became the favorite cereal of the makers of Diabetes meds, Post burped up more cereal in the “Pebbles” family including Dino Pebbles!

Mr. Breakfast says that Dino Pebbles were first pooted out by Post in 1990. Like Fruity Pebbles, it was rice cereal that had been barfed on by loads upon loads of sugar. But unlike Fruity Pebbles, it had bits of decadent dino-shaped colored marshmallows in it. via MRB:

This cereal was described on the box as a “wholesome sweetened rice cereal with marshmallows.” The marshmallows were purple, yellow, orange and green dinosaurs, ala Dino – the TV cartoon character from The Flintstones. Later, marshmallows shaped like suns, palm trees and surf boards were added. The cereal itself was vanilla flavored

And here’s a Dino Pebbles commercial that is so 90s it made me fart out Exclamation perfume and made my Hypercolor t-shirt change colors and I’m not even wearing a Hypercolor t-shirt!

Post also made a Dino S’Mores Pebbles cereal that had chocolate-flavored rice bits, marshmallows and graham cracker bones.

Dino Pebbles didn’t really last very long, which was probably bad news to the dentists who made zillions from fixing the cavities of children who ate a lot of that mess. So if you want to get your fix of Dino’s pebbles (nasty trick!), you’ll have to just eat your Fruity Pebbles with marshmallows. Or just buy a five pound bag of sugar and pour it directly into your mouth hole until your blood veins explode. Same thing, really.
