Bisexual Black Actress Javicia Leslie Is The New Batwoman

The Batwoman producers must have said to themselves “Level that social justice shit up!” because they have replaced Ruby Rose and they didn’t only just keep it within the LGBTQ community. They hired a Black woman, too! Javicia Leslie is the new Batwoman. Every time a Black bisexual person gets a job, a confederate flag loses a star.

It was announced back in May that Ruby Rose was leaving The CW’s Batwoman after just one season. There were rumors Ruby’s exit was related to the fact that she was as fun to work with as a torn anal gland. The series promised they would replace Ruby with another LGBTQ actress.

Variety reports that Javicia Leslie will is replacing Ruby as the lead of the show. Javicia has worked on shows like MacGyver, God Friended Me, and The Family Business. Batwoman promised they wouldn’t kill off Ruby’s character, Kate Kane, and would instead turn her disappearance into a plot and replace the character. Javicia will play Ryan Wilder, a lesbian who lives in her van, used to run drugs, and somehow becomes the protector of Gotham City. Javicia gave a statement about the casting news:

“I am extremely proud to be the first Black actress to play the iconic role of Batwoman on television, and as a bisexual woman, I am honored to join this groundbreaking show which has been such a trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ community.”

And she talked about it on Instagram too:

Ruby also commented, and she is just soooooooooo excited that an actress other than her has job security during a global pandemic!

Congrats to Javicia on the new gig. And I’m even happier about all the Comic book fanboys likely melting down over TV’s first Black Batwoman. I mean, have the people at Batwoman talked to Terry Crews about this? Are we sure this isn’t black supremacy–a black woman stealing a job from a white woman? Hmmm!? HMMMMM?!
