Christina Ricci Has Filed For Divorce From Her Husband, And Was Granted A Protective Order
So it looks like Jaime King isn’t the only actress going through a messy divorce involving a restraining order and a child custody situation with their producer husband this summer. Christina Ricci was granted an emergency protective order against her husband of nearly seven years, film producer and grip James Heerdegen. And about a week after that, Christina filed for divorce.
Us Weekly says that the LAPD were called to Christina’s California home on June 25th, at around 9 am, for a domestic battery call. James wasn’t arrested, but Christina was granted an emergency protective order. The police confirmed to Us Weekly that they had responded to a call on that day, but wouldn’t say it was Christina and James, for obvious privacy reasons. But the LAPD would say a report was “completed.” I can’t be sure, but I want to believe that when they heard the news, Cher and Winona Ryder immediately made their way over to Christina’s house for some jug wine and marshmallow kebabs.
Due to the protective order, James has to stay far away from Christina, at least for the time being. But there will be a time when they might be forced to cross paths in a lawyer’s office. TMZ says that Christina filed for divorce earlier today in Los Angeles County Superior Court. And if there’s any lingering doubt about how she feels, People Magazine says she was seen today without her wedding ring on. Christina cited irreconcilable differences as the reason why she wanted out. She’s also asking for sole legal and physical custody of their 5-year-old son Freddie.
There is also no prenup, which means it could get money-messy. Christina brought in the majority of the money during her marriage to James. That’s not to say James wasn’t working. His IMDb credits include dolly grip work the TV series Elementary and the movie Birdman. TMZ also has a bit of information about their police visit from last week. Sources say that the cops were called after James allegedly spat on Christina in their home.
One thing that keeps getting pointed out during all this divorce reporting is that Christina met James while working on the 2011 ABC series Pan Am. James was a dolly grip and Christina played flight attendant Maggie Ryan. They started dating in 2012 and got married a year later. And I’m personally bringing up Pan Am because I loved that show. It was like Mad Men with 1/8 of the budget or script supervision, and it was canceled after one season because I guess people thought it was bad. So maybe all the Pan Am mentions will have people looking it up on YouTube. At the very least, those Pan Am clips will provide a decent palate cleanser after this messy story.
