Nicole Young Has Filed For Divorce From Dr. Dre After 24 Years Of Marriage

TMZ reports that after 24 years of marriage, Nicole Young has filed for divorce from Dr. Dre and I’m choosing to fantasize about her future wealth and independence rather than focus on the dissolution of their family. Dre (government name: Andre Romelle Young) is reportedly worth $800 million, both their kids are grown, there is no prenup and Nicole is seeking spousal support. Hopefully, Nicole’s about to get a heaping helping of that Apple sauce, because after 24 years, I’m sure she knows where all the bodies are buried.

Nicole cited “irreconcilable differences” in the filing. According to People:

The couple, who made their last public appearance together at the Tom Ford fashion show in February, wed in May 1996 and share two children together: son Truice, 23, and 19-year-old daughter Truly.

Dre, born Andre Romelle Young, is also dad to four kids — daughters Tyra Young and La Tanya Danielle Young as well as sons Marcel and Curtis — from previous relationships. (Son Andre Young Jr. died at age 20 in 2008.)

Marcel’s mom is Michel’le, who has accused Dre of physically assaulting her throughout their relationship. In 2015, around the time he sold Beats by Dre to Apple for $3 billion, Dre issued a statement saying “I apologize to the women I’ve hurt.” Dre’s violent past was being revisited when the biopic Straight Outta Compton failed to include the assault charges he pleaded “no contest” to after allegedly putting a beat down on hip hop journalist Dee Barnes.

TMZ adds that Nicole was previously married to NBA player Sedale Threatt and that she is being represented by “high-powered celeb attorneySamantha Spector. Amber Heard is one of Samantha’s clients so we know she’s not afraid to go in on Dre’s personal business if it comes down to it. In his 2015 apology, Dre used his marriage to Nicole as a human shield stating “I’ve been married for 19 years and every day I’m working to be a better man…” so it would only be fitting if Nicole spent the next 19 working to make him a poorer one.
