Jada Pinkett And Jaden Smith Called Out Shane Dawson For Sexualizing An 11-Year-Old Willow Smith
Well, I could have gone the rest of my life without knowing who or what Shane Dawson is. But after a soft dive into his very popular YouTube channel, I now feel like a cold shower and a self-performed lobotomy are in order. If you happen to be new to the goings-on within the YouTube community (and consider yourself lucky, if so), Shane has had a reputation for being absolutely disgusting and racist for some time now. And after someone pulled out a clip, which involves Willow Smith, of Shane looking like he’s auditioning for a place in The Roman Polanski Appreciation Club, he was called out by Jaden Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith.
Now, normally, Shane (and for good reason) would probably never even register on Jada’s radar. But because Shane released a video on Friday, entitled “Taking Accountability”, where he apologizes for past messiness, the old clip involving Willow has recently resurfaced. Nothing was really off-limits for Shane. Use of the N-word, blackface, pedo shit, his library has got it all!
If you’re interested in watching another YouTuber pretend to look sad in an apology video, you can catch it here. But basically, Shane needed 20 minutes (and that’s a long time to stare at his face) to film himself throwing out a few “I’m sowwys.”
“Me, as a white person, wearing a wig, playing a character, doing stereotypes and then saying the N-word is something that I should have probably lost my career for at the time. There’s no amount of apologizing that can take it away.”
Well two people who decidedly did NOT buy Shane’s apologies are Jada and Jaden, who now have a personal bone to pick. And Shane better watch out because the Smiths may or may not have the almighty powers of Scientology working for them.
According to E! Online, the Smiths are PISSED over the clip from 2010 of Shane, who is currently 31 years old, pretending to masturbate to a poster of an 11-year-old Willow while he sings along to her song, “Whip My Hair”. Neither Willow nor her dad, Will Smith, have given their thoughts yet.
Coincidentally, while Shane never specifically addressed the Willow clip in his apology video––which, again, was posted on Friday, the day before the Smiths’ tweets––he does acknowledge his past use of minors in his “comedy“:
“I swear on my life, I am not somebody who would ever talk about a child… like in seriousness, I would never talk about a child in any way that was inappropriate,” he said. “That is disgusting. That is gross. It is not something I would ever do. It is something I did for shock value or because I thought it was funny, like ‘Oh my god, my child molester character.’ It’s all gross and I promise that is not real. That is not me.”
So, by his own account, being a creepy perv around the subject of kids is NOT Shane. Except it is! But Shane may have fucked with the wrong one because it might be hard for him to make YouTube videos when there’s no WiFi in the prison camp on Mars (or Hemet, CA), which is where he may find himself after the Smiths get in touch with the thetan spirit of L. Ron Hubbard.
