Gia Gunn Of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Calls Coronavirus A Hoax––Then Takes It Back

ABSOLUTELY nobody’s favorite queen, Gia Gunn, from season 6 (and filler queen from All-Stars season 4) of RuPaul’s Drag Race, has a tendency to say stupid things. And when she’s not serving as a perennial shit-stirrer, she’s putting on her conspiracy theorist wig and stepping in as a medical health official. Well, now Gia’s pissed people off again for spouting dangerous bullshit about not wearing masks and insisting that the current pandemic is a hoax. And it’s gone over about as well as you’d think.
After being hated on in her original season for not knowing a lot of things, Gia all of a sudden decided that she IS an expert on pandemic response protocols. And yesterday, she took to her Instagram and did what a lot of Americans have been doing: giving completely baseless and unsolicited opinions on COVID-19.
California, where Gia lives, has seen a spike in cases, and the state’s Governor, Gavin Newsom, has urged people to wear a mask. Gia has been loud on Twitter about how she thinks the virus is “manmade” and yesterday, she did an Instagram Live, calling COVID-19 “a hoax” and that it’s “cute” that people are protecting themselves––and others––with face masks.
“I think the whole mask thing is ridiculous,” the performer said in the first clip, which was posted to Twitter by another user. “I honestly think this whole COVID-19 thing is a hoax. I think everybody that is taking precautions is cute, and it’s definitely the thing to do, but I also think that a lot of people are brainwashed. “I’m here to tell you guys that I think things are more OK than what the government is allowing us to think.”
Gia is HERE TO TELL US. Thank god, because I love to get my health and wellness news from Future Surgeon General Gia Gunn via Instagram Live. Here’s Gia’s anti-mask PSA which is extremely on-brand for her:

Then, in no time at all, fellow Drag Race queens including, Aquaria and Alexis Michelle, called her out:
queen @GiaGunn, whats ur address/PO box.. I wanna send you one of my cute new face masks as a gift so we can keep each other safe and continue to fight against the COVID-19 virus scientists have yet to create a working vaccine for https://t.co/1eIIpH5HLc

This is beyond irresponsible @GiaGunn do you realize you’re aligning with the “president” and his non handling of the pandemic? https://t.co/xsYC38AhEw

Gia then released a damage control video where she admitted she has to do better and thanked people for wearing masks. You can practically feel her eye-rolling on the inside over having to do this:

Another RPDR queen, Farrah Moan, did what many did and pfft’d at Gia’s designer mask infomercial, and also brought up how Gia previously called out Toast Bakery in Los Angeles for refusing to let her eat there over her temperature being “not of the right temperature.”
Here is some reference incase anyone is wondering what toast bakery is or why they deserve an apology: pic.twitter.com/OcLAODGjCy

So KARENia Gunn hasn’t been following the coronavirus protocols and had a high enough temperature to not be allowed to eat at a restaurant… Um, something tells me that Gia should schedule a date with a nose swab because she could be SICKENING and not in a good way.
