Chris D’Elia Got Dropped By His Agents While Penn Badgley Spoke Out About The Accusations

Chris D’Elia co-starred on the last season of You where he played a creeper comic who groomed underage girls. Art imitating life, much? Chris was recently accused of doing exactly that, so now Penn Badgley–who stars on You as the main psycho–has commented on the accusations which hit close to home. And Chris’ fallout continues because his agents have washed their hands of his ass.

Penn spoke with The Los Angeles Times podcast, Can’t Stop Watching, about the accusations against Chris. He said he was “very troubled” by the allegations that Chris groomed and assaulted underage girls while traveling as a comic–which is literally what happened with his character on the show. (via E! News)

“I also am thinking about how to somehow not—the idea that a show like ours would indirectly, unwittingly be a haven for people who are abusive is disturbing. It’s very disturbing. What does it take to change that? Because it’s not just vetting individuals. There needs to be a change in culture and attitude so that that kind of behavior is so clearly reprehensible, it’s so clearly, like, anti-human.”

Penn said after the story broke, the producers of the show reached out to 17-year-old actress, Jenna Ortega, who worked with Chris during the second season of You “to make sure she felt safe.” No comment from her yet, but if this guy is as creepy as he seems I’m sure she’ll have something to say. Penn continued talking about how his show participates in sexual culture and how he hoped it was in a “deconstructive manner.”

“You know, to the degree that the subject matter is conflicting and challenging in that end, trying to create that culture, does a show like ours help to create that culture? Well, I know that at least our show is trying to be—thinks about things in a dismantling, deconstructive manner. I would hope that at least our show is not serving to uphold these kind of, like, bunk ways of being and these systems, right?”

Chris’s former Whitney co-star and friend, Whitney Cummings, also spoke out against him, calling his actions a “pattern of predatory behavior.”

But Chris has bigger problems than ex-coworkers shitting on him because he’s been dropped by his agent. Deadline reports that CAA dropped him as their client, and his episode on the series Workaholics where he played a child molester has been removed from Comedy Central, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video.

Chris can’t be shocked this has happened. Chris did a podcast a while back where he learned that Snapchats could be saved and the look on his face is fucking priceless. That’s the thing about being an alleged deviant pervert: You gotta have a good grasp of the technology you’re using. This is “Okay Boomer” gone dark.
