Rebekah Vardy Is Suing Coleen Rooney For Libel

Take notes, Jessica Mulroney – here’s how a rich brunette caught in some embarrassing social media drama sues for libel. First things first, they spell libel correctly. Which is exactly what Rebekah Vardy (above) did when she decided to sue her arch-nemesis and fellow WAG Coleen Rooney, for publicly accusing her of two-faced Instagram snakery.

So, back in October, Rebekah and Coleen became famous-ish outside of the UK when Coleen revealed that she had been secretly playing a game of To Catch A Petty Bitch in her private Instagram Stories. Coleen claimed that she was sick of seeing The Sun publishing private stories about her and her family (her husband is footballer Wayne Rooney) and that she was sure it was Rebekah who was leaking the info. So she started posting made up shit and blocking everyone but Rebekah. Coleen then allegedly started seeing the fake leaked information published by The Sun. Coleen then accused Rebekah of selling stories.

Rebekah fired back, saying she hadn’t sold anything and that she was so embarrassed to be called out by Coleen like that. She also maintained that many people had access to her Instagram account and that she had hired a cybersecurity expert to get to the bottom of it. Rebekah, whose husband is footballer Jamie Vardy, claimed that Coleen’s exposé had her getting death threats and that she was stressed out over the situation.

Yahoo! Sports says that’s the angle she’s playing in her libel suit. The lawsuit, which was filed on June 12, claims that Coleen’s very public dragging has caused Rebekah to have “severe anxiety attacks.” Rebekah has maintained her innocence since Coleen put her on blast, and continues to say that the culprit could have been anyone who had access to her Instagram account. A court trial will happen if both parties can’t reach some kind of settlement.

Both Rebekah and Coleen’s reps have been reached for comment, but neither had anything to say about the lawsuit.

One thing Rebekah kept mentioning when talking about Coleen’s internet sting was that she was “heavily pregnant” at the time (in October). In January, she gave birth to a healthy baby girl. Her baby could be talking soon, which might not be so great for Rebekah’s case. Because Rebekah’s baby was in utero when she was allegedly backstabbing Coleen. And if the Look Who’s Talking franchise has taught me anything, it’s that babies can hear everything inside the womb. Rebekah might not have much of a case if her baby’s first words are, “Hello, The Sun?”
