TOMY Turnin’ Turbo!

In 1983, TOMY put out a mind-blowing toy for those kids who used all their tokens on the driving games at Chuck E. Cheese’s, as those of us who used all our tokens on skeeball looked at them like, “Weirdos.” TOMY Turnin’ Turbo was an electronic game made up of an Olsen-sized dashboard complete with a steering wheel that you used while trying not to crash into trees. Or used while trying to crash into trees if you were a regular Latarian Milton type.

TOMY Turnin’ Turbo was basically a racing arcade game for your house and AutoEvolution says that the TOMY Turnin’ Turbo had a Porsche-like nose (whatever that means):

It had a Porsche-like nose at one and a mockup of car’s dashboard on the other. On top of that, anything with ‘turbo’ in the name was really popular in the ’80s.

Here’s TTT in action, and watching this video made my eardrums perk up, because I totally forgot that it sounded like a cross between a busted fan and a vibrator on roids:

I was going to roll my eyes at TTT because the only racing game I truly recognize and want to play is the masterpiece OutRun, but it looks like someone made TTT a zillion times better by hacking that shit and putting OutRun on it.

The only thing missing is a friend blowing in your face and shaking you and pushing you over when you fuck up and your convertible flips.
