Kelly Clarkson’s Marriage Issues Were “Exacerbated” During Quarantine
More celebrity split news to make you feel better about your own relationship (or lack thereof). Last week Kelly Clarkson fans and loved ones were “shocked” when she filed for divorce from her husband of nearly seven years, Brandon Blackstock. A quick review of the split. It was allegedly “amicable”, they had irreconcilable differences, there’s a prenup, and she’s asking for joint custody of their two kids (River, 5, and Remington, 3), and the entire family (including Brandon’s two teen children from his first marriage) was self-isolating at their ranch in Montana.
But apparently that sprawling ranch wasn’t big enough for the both of ’em, because now insiders are claiming the state of their marriage got worse while holed up together in quarantine. “No shit!”, replied all the recent divorcées in China (and Kristen Bell and Dax Shephard)
Sources tell People:
“It just came out of nowhere. Their marriage was so strong,” says a source close to Blackstock and Clarkson, who filed for divorce on June 4.
But with busy careers and four kids, any cracks in the marriage became amplified while they self-isolated in Montana amid the coronavirus pandemic over the last couple of months.
“It was a stressful time,” says a source. “[Quarantining in Montana] exacerbated any issues.”
Last month Kelly told People she was feeling “cabin fever” during the pandemic. And she meant literally. Contrary to what I assumed, Kelly & Co. were literally living in a one-room cabin (the plan was to build a big new house on their land, which the family bought last year):

“…been like friends for a while,” and work demands put a strain on their relationship.
“Things had changed in their marriage and the split was a while coming,” says the insider. “They both work so hard. It’s nearly impossible to enjoy each other, especially with the children needing constant attention.”
Last year the entire family packed up and moved from Tennessee to Los Angeles for Kelly’s talk show. And Brandon is also Kelly’s music manager, following the example of his father, the unfortunately named Narvel Blackstock, who managed ex-wife Reba McEntire’s career until their shady split a few years back. So I totally buy that Kelly and Brandon were sick to death of each other and fighting about career crap. But I’m still not sold that those past cheating rumors aren’t somehow related.
Kelly’s since returned to L.A., and People says she’s focusing on work and her kids. Friends say, “it’s very sad”. Well, yeah, but the good news is that they made it out of that cabin alive. I mean, stuck in a little cabin with two little kids and teenagers who probably did TikTok dances at all hours of the day and night. Was Kelly Clarkson’s quarantine in Montana produced by Eli Roth because it sounds like a horror show.
