Kelly Clarkson’s Friends Were Reportedly Shocked By Her Divorce Announcement
Yesterday the news broke that Kelly Clarkson reclaimed her title as Miss Independent, and filed for divorce from her husband of almost seven years/current manager/former Reba stepson, Brandon Blackstock. Kelly asked for joint custody of their 5-year-old daughter, River Rose, and 3-year-old son, Remington Steele Alexander. Brandon also has two teenagers from a former marriage. The entire family has been quarantining at their Montana ranch, and last month they put their L.A. home on the market for $10 million.
So how did Kelly’s friends react to her big decision to Breakaway? Was this one of those splits where everyone texted each other “About time, bitch!”, or is Kelly the type who holds her relationship cards close to her chest (well, her relationship problems, we know she’s not shy about her sex life)? Looks like it’s the latter, because E! News says Kelly’s “inner circle” was as blindsided as Steve Harvey when Kelly stole his daytime slot.
“It came out of nowhere,” one insider says. “It’s all so sad for the kids. They were always such a loving family. It never seemed like they had any issues.”
As second insider close to Kelly’s daytime show explains, “Brandon was around all the time on almost all show days and they were very loving towards one another. They drove home from set together every night.”
So what the hell happened? A classic case of the seven-year itch, or was something more nefarious at work? Brandon’s been forced to address cheating rumors in the past. Hmmm, does the apple not fall from the tree? His father, Narvel Blackstock was dating Reba’s close friend immediately after their divorce (what kind of fucking name is Narvel, and what kind of bastard would dare to break Reba’s heart?). If the cheating was true, did Kelly look Behind These Hazel Eyes and call bullshit on her husband’s lies? OK, that last Kelly song pun didn’t work, because Brandon’s eyes are brown, but you get my point.
Some sources told The Blast that there’s no drama, the couple has a prenup in place, and the divorce is amicable. An “amicable divorce” is sort of an oxymoron, unless you’re a higher, enlightened being like Gwyneth Paltrow. But if there is drama, I hope Kelly gets out of this relationship happier and Stronger. And she goes to therapy to deal with the issues she has Because Of You Brandon. You see, The Trouble With Love Is, men are trash. And, uhhh something about moving on from A Moment Like This? Geez, Kelly has a lot of hits. Hopefully she can channel some of that divorce heartbreak into an Adele-style break-up record, and rub that cold hard cash in Brandon’s face.
