Prince William And Duchess Kate Might Sue Over The “Inaccuracies” In Tatler’s Recent Profile

Last week, Tatler magazine published a cover story on Duchess Kate, calling her “Catherine the Great” and heavily suggesting that she’s carrying the whole damn Royal Family on her back. Tatler claimed Kate has been working tirelessly around the clock since Meghan Markle stepped down as a senior royal in January. Kensington Palace, home to Kate and Prince William, fired back, saying that Tatler’s piece contained many “inaccuracies and false misrepresentations,” which seemed to imply they didn’t like the anti-Meghan angle that Tatler seemed to lean into. They also claimed they weren’t warned of the material in the piece beforehand.

Tatler responded by saying that Kensington Palace was very well aware of the piece before it went to press and basically called them liars. And now, according to The Daily Mail, William and Kate have threatened Tatler with a lawsuit.

Sources say that William and Kate are in the beginning stages of legal action because they feel like they’ve been personally victimized by Tatler’s reporting. I’d say that William and Kate might want to read the room a little, but the ability to not appear out-of-touch has never really been the Royal Family’s strong suit.

William and Kate have reportedly sent legal letters to Tatler, demanding that they remove their “Catherine the Great” piece from the internet. As for what Kate had the biggest problem with, it’s not a surprise that it allegedly has to do with Tatler’s reporting on Kate’s reaction to Meghan and Prince Harry’s exit five months ago. Tatler’s reporting made it seem like Kate could steal the title of Double Dutchess from Fergie, because Kate was doing the work of two Duchesses. Tatler also wrote that Kate was taking on all this extra work with a smile and a wave, because she’s a pro at her job.

Sources add that William and Kate didn’t like the accusation that Kate was “exhausted” from working hard. They also didn’t like Tatler commenting on Kate’s weight (Tatler implied that Kate was getting skinny from being overworked). Another point William and Kate allegedly had a problem with was Tatler’s accusation that William was “obsessed” with Kate’s mom, Carole Middleton, and that she’s been a surrogate mom to him.

A Royal source told The Mail on Sunday: “That is such an extremely cruel and wounding barb. It’s disgusting. It’s sexist and woman-shaming at its very worst. The piece is full of lies. There is no truth to their claim that the Duchess feels overwhelmed with work, nor that the Duke is obsessed with Carole Middleton. It’s preposterous and downright wrong. It’s ironic that the Royals’ favourite magazine is being trashed by them. The Duchess is a naturally shy woman who is doing her best.”

Tatler also accused Pippa Middleton of being a try-hard with no real brand. Um, but isn’t that kind of already her brand? Regardless, William and Kate are not happy with the implications printed by Tatler. But Tatler proved they really really aren’t afraid of William and Kate by releasing the following statement to The Daily Mail:

“We can confirm we have received correspondence from lawyers acting for the Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge and believe it has no merit.”

So it looks like William and Kate might actually get their hands dirty with a lawsuit. It also looks like Kensington Palace once again has a reason to use Kate and Meghan to push the narrative that William and Harry don’t completely hate each.
