Julianne Hough And Brooks Laich Have Officially Announced They’re Splitting Up

Well, it finally happened. Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich have confirmed what everybody knew. They announced today that they’re splitting up after nearly three years of marriage.

Even though Julianne and Brooks have been spending their COVID-19 quarantine apart, they decided to break the news of their split together by releasing a joint statement to People magazine:

“We have lovingly and carefully taken the time we have needed to arrive at our decision to separate. We share an abundance of love and respect for one another and will continue to lead with our hearts from that place. We kindly request your compassion and respect for our privacy moving forward.”

Almost five months ago, they started dropping subtle hints that their marriage was in a rough place. Both Brooks and Julianne started coyly hiding their ring fingers in pictures, or just not wearing their wedding rings at all. Sources then began talking about how it’s a shock their marriage had lasted as long as it did, and that it was basically done for good.

They fought the rumors for a while, but then Brooks added some fuel to the marriage fire by revealing he was in COVID-19 isolation in Idaho while Julianne was in California hanging out with anyone but Brooks (an arrangement both of them really liked). Ten days ago, a source told E! News that they weren’t ready to split. But a source who spoke to People confirms basically everything we already knew about Julianne and Brooks, which is that it was only a matter of time before their marriage cha-cha-cha’d off into the sunset.

“It’s over, it’s been over for a while, and it’s time to just call it what it is – and it is over,” says one source with knowledge of the situation. “There is honestly no ill will. He loves her. She loves him. I can truly say they always will. But they both understand they are not meant to go through their lives as husband and wife to each other.”

That same source also says that Julianne and Brooks are different people than they were when they got married three years ago, and that might have to do with all the “changes” and personal growth they’ve each done. The source adds that Julianne and Brooks realized they “shouldn’t spend the rest of their lives together.”

That growth could include, but is not limited to, Julianne’s admission that she’s “not straight,” or Brooks’ confession that he wanted to explore his sexuality. Julianne has also been dedicating a ton of time to butt exorcisms and her dance-inspired fitness system cult Kinrgy.

It sounds like it all came down to simple incompatibility. I’m sure both of them will be back on their feet in no time, dipping their toes back into the dating pool. Although by the looks of Brooks’ Instagram page, he’s having no trouble making that transition. Forget about toes, he’s already knee-deep in Thirst Trap Lake. Congratulations Brooks, you’re now free to explore anyone with a woodsman fetish who pops into your DMs offering to “lumber-jack you off.
