Hilary Duff Shut Down The Rumor That She’s Involved In Sex Trafficking
Okay, this might be it. The weirdest headline to come out of 2020, a year which isn’t even halfway over and is already busting the seams with tons of WTF energy. Hilary Duff, former star of Lizzie McGuire and…well, current star of Lizzie McGuire, has been dragged into an internet conspiracy in which some people believe that she’s involved with some kind of secret child sex trafficking situation.
If you spent any time on Twitter this weekend, you know that everybody was getting cancelled. Lana Del Rey continued to be cancelled, Doja Cat was cancelled a second time, both Khloe Kardashian’s surgeon and photo editor were cancelled. In the midst of all of this was the temporary Twitter cancellation of Hilary Duff, due to an Instagram Story she posted on Saturday. Page Six says the video (which has since been deleted) featured a collage of photographs, including one of Hilary’s 8-year-old son Luca laying naked on a bed. Hilary explained later that she deleted the video as quickly as possible, because that’s the kind of embarrassing mom move that will make Luca cringe well into his teen years (Kristen Bell, take note).
The internet decided it wasn’t an oversight, but an intentional message put out by Hilary in an attempt to traffic her own son. Even Jenna Jameson got involved in the conspiracy. Jenna retweeted a screen grab of Hilary’s Instagram Story and demanded that Hilary “explain” what was going on. Jenna didn’t get an answer from Hilary personally, but she did get confronted by Hilary’s husband Matthew Koma, who essentially told Jenna to take her tinfoil hat elsewhere.

Hilary did eventually address the situation. First, here’s the Instagram Story in which she admits she accidentally flashed her son’s business and corrected the situation by covering that specific part of his picture with a sticker.

Still, some people on the internet weren’t buying it and were absolutely convinced the more successful Duff sister was a child sex trafficker. Page Six says one person suggested that Hilary posted the unedited picture on purpose as a sly hint to fellow traffickers, and claimed Hilary would avoid ever getting “caught” trafficking because she’s a celebrity. They demanded that Hilary make like her 2004 Billboard Hot 100 hit and come clean. Hilary hopped on Twitter and let everyone know there’s nothing that the rain can fall down and wash away, because there’s no Disney Channel Epstein shit going on in her house.

I know that Hollywood is filled with alleged creeps and shady conspiracies, but Hilary Duff? Sex trafficking? And trafficking her own son? Call me delusional and easily convinced, but Jo and Sam McGuire didn’t raise a dark web-trolling, Instagram-baiting monster. I swear on a stack of Stuff by Duff nail polish that Hilary isn’t some secret sex trafficker. My only proof of Hilary’s moral compass is this mid-00s homophobia PSA, but I think we can all agree it says everything you need to know about her character.
