The New York Times Has Placed Columnist Alison Roman On Temporary Leave

The New York Times has put their star food columnist, Alison Roman, on temporary leave after she talked mad shit about Chrissy Teigen and Marie Kondo in an interview last week. Alison might want to consider using her newly found time off to get reconstructive foot surgery after shooting herself in it by singling out two women of color to call “sell-outs”, one of whom (Chrissy Teigen) is an executive producer on a cooking show Alison had just sold. There was also the uncomfortable “please to” line directed at Marie which Alison swears wasn’t her being racist and was just an inside joke among friends.

According to The Daily Beast, the NYT didn’t have anything to say about the situation other than announcing that Alison has been put on leave.

A spokesperson for the paper confirmed to The Daily Beast on Tuesday that Roman’s column is “on temporary leave.” The paper did not elaborate on how long it would last nor did it give a specific reason for why.

According to Times insiders, Roman had a piece that was prepared to run last week amid the controversy, but it was ultimately not published.

Alison’s most recent NYT’s offering was, fittingly, an Asian inspired soup. Naturally, Alison’s suspension is making waves on Twitter with some criticizing the paper’s decision, and according to Chrissy, blaming her for getting Alison (temporarily) shit canned. Even though she publicly accepted Alison’s apology despite the fact that Alison’s words made her cry every time she saw a shallot! I can hardly think of a crueler affliction.

And it looks as if Chrissy is maybe trying to do something about it? How magnanimous of her. If Chrissy gets to take credit for the NYT reinstating Alison, an angel gets their wings.

Meanwhile, Marie’s probably busy cleverly organizing her piles of cash. The only fair solution to this situation seems obvious. Give Francis from Cooking With Dog Alison’s column! Judging from the NYT Cooking masthead, they’re severely lacking in canine representation.
