Anderson Cooper Says He’s Not Back With Benjamin Maisani, But They’ll Co-Parent Together

Last week we learned that Anderson Cooper had become a father after a surrogate gave birth to his first son, Wyatt Morgan Cooper. And as far as anyone knew, Anderson was single. Which I’m sure made a whole lot of gay dudes research how to apply to become the Grace Farrell to Anderson’s Daddy Warbucks (step one: lean very hard into purple). Then those rich eligible DILF dreams were dashed when it was rumored 52-year-old Anderson had gotten back together with his ex, 47-year-old club owner Benjamin Maisani. Well, it’s not actually too late. Anderson recently cleared up any speculation into his private life, and while Benjamin remains in the picture, it’s not as his partner.

Anderson appeared on last night’s episode of The Late Show with Stephen at Home, where he spoke about his new son. E! News says that Stephen Colbert began by congratulating Anderson, then proceeded to ask him what it was like to welcome a new baby during such a difficult time. Anderson reminded us that his mother, Gloria Vanderbilt, passed away last year, and then broke the news that he and Benjamin will co-parent Wyatt together:

“My mom died in June, so it hasn’t even been a full year. In the course of one year, just on a personal basis, to have experienced the loss of her life and to have been there when she breathed her last breath and to witness that and to be holding her at that time and then to suddenly, you know, last Monday night, to be in a delivery room with this amazing surrogate and her husband and my former partner Benjamin, who’s going to be a co-parent to Wyatt, even though we’re not together anymore, but you know, he’s my family and I want him to be Wyatt’s family, as well.”

And Anderson’s BTVF (best TV friend) Andy Cohen recently broke his own Benjamin-based news about Baby Wyatt. People magazine says that on a recent episode of his radio show, Andy revealed that his 1-year-old son Benjamin Cohen’s nanny was leaving, and moving on over to Wyatt Cooper’s house. He explained that he had previously mentioned on his show that his nanny is leaving, and almost immediately after Anderson announced he had a kid, Andy’s DM’s lit up with people asking if the nanny was now going to work for Anderson. She is.

But back to adult Benjamin. Anderson didn’t say exactly how he and Benjamin will be co-parenting Wyatt. We only know that according to Anderson, they’re, “not together anymore.” Kathy Griffin is probably thinking, “You gave a co-parenting role to an ex-boyfriend, and I can’t even get a call back?
