Open Post: Hosted By A “Jeopardy!” Contestant Confusing Janet Jackson With Ariana Grande

Methinks the contestants on Jeopardy! need to brush up on their pop culture knowledge because this is absolutely loco. This week, a contestant mistook the Zulu warrior chief, Shaka Zulu, for Grammy-winning icon, Chaka Khan. And on last night’s episode, a different contestant confused two living pop stars who are both fairly recognizable. One of them being a superstar member of the Jackson family and black person, and the other being a yodeling bronzer addict. Are they similar looking? Maybe if you’re half-blind and have no real understanding of who Janet Jackson and Ariana Grande are. So what I’m saying is that this dude needs to get himself to a Lens Crafters.

The Jeopardy! answer was:

“As the recipient of the 2018 Icon Award, she took “Control” & took to the stage in her first live TV performance in nearly a decade.”

Jeopardy! even showed a clip from May 2018 of Janet Jackson performing at the Billboard Music Awards where she got that Icon Award. And ten years before that performance, Ariana Grande was 14 years old.

The contestant, Alwin Hui, buzzed that shit in because he was confident he knew who it was. He’s seen that ponytail before! He said, “Who is Ariana Grande?” Alex Trebek should’ve called the police for that act of blasephemy. But instead, he shut Alwin down immediately. Luckily there was someone there to pick up the ball. Yes, it was Sarah Jett Rayburn, the defending champion who confused Chaka Khan and Shaka Zulu. She redeemed herself by answering, “WHO IS JANET JACKSON!?” Sarah also won the night, bringing her four-day total to $89,300.

It’s only a matter of time until some Jeopardy! contestant proudly says, “Backstreet Boys!”, in response to a picture of B2K.
