Jay Cutler Reportedly Won’t Let Kristin Cavallari Buy A New House

Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler barely wrapped up one mess and have jumped into another with their divorce and custody fight. The majority of the messiness has been cheating accusations from both sides, as well as allegations of absentee parenting and “marital misconduct.” Now we can add “housing drama” and “shitty financial power moves” to the growing list of reasons why it was probably a good idea for these two to call it quits.

TMZ claims that Kristin is accusing Jay of holding her financially hostage. She says that late last year, they split up and she began looking at houses for herself to move into. Kristin claims that she had access to money, and Jay was encouraging her to buy her own place. At some point in the new year, Kristin and Jay decided to give their marriage another chance, and she put the house hunting on hold. Early last month, Kristin and Jay realized that they were definitely headed for a divorce, and she started looking for houses again. Except now the only house in her budget is a gently used Playmobil Mansion, because Jay is allegedly withholding money.

Kristin claims the nastiness started later that month when they got back from the Bahamas. In the docs, she claims Jay told her he would not release the funds she needed for the house. She thinks that was his way of “punishing” her.

According to TMZ, Kristin thinks she’s being punished for the divorce, but also because she wouldn’t agree to the custody arrangement he suggested. Kristin is asking for primary physical custody of their three children Camden, Jaxon, and Saylor. Kristin claims in her recent filing that Jay tried to “intimidate” her into an unfavorable custody agreement. Now Jay allegedly refuses to leave their home in Tennessee, and he won’t give her the money to buy a house and move out.

Or maybe Jay is punishing her for not getting along with his mommy and daddy. According to Us Weekly, Kristin has always had a sort-of shitty relationship with Jack and Sandy Cutler. Huh, they must be Lauren Conrad people. But it’s not like her strained relationship with her estranged husband’s parents is going to get any better. Jack divides his time between two pieces of property in Kentucky and Montana. They’re both owned by Jay. Kristin has recently accused Jay of intentionally keeping those properties a secret when listing his real estate assets in their divorce.

But back to Jay’s current living situation. Living under the same roof might be fine if Jay was keeping to himself in the basement, but according to Kristin, he’s “constantly” picking fights with her. Her documents reportedly state:

“Husband makes inappropriate statements to and about Wife and attempts to draw her into an argument in front of their minor children. Now that Husband has announced he will not leave so Wife can exercise parenting time with the children, Wife fears the situation will escalate.”

Kristin reportedly thinks the situation is going to cause “irreparable harm” to their three kids. She’s asked a judge to force Jay to release the money so she can finally buy a house and move out.

I can see where Kristin is coming from. I’d want to be out of that house as soon as possible too. I just don’t understand why she needs Jay’s money to do it? It says right in her Instagram bio that she’s a two-time New York Times bestselling author. She’s also a jewelry designer and a reality TV star. What’s the issue here? But maybe that kind of braggable prestige doesn’t translate to a big fat bank account. Can’t anyone help Kristin? Where is the E! network?!? You can’t tell me they wouldn’t happily float Kristin the cash for a down payment in exchange for the exclusive rights to a Very Cavallari spin-off called Krist-In The House.
