Lady Gaga Postponed The Release Of New Album Due To Coronavirus
Lady Gaga had been hyping up her new album by releasing its lead single Stupid Love, along with a B-list Power Rangers Villainess drag show of a music video. But the hype is dead for now. She announced on social media that she is delaying the release of her next album Chromatica because of this whole coronavirus disaster.
Gaga’s new album was supposed to come out in a few weeks on April 10, but will now come out on an unspecified date sometime this year. She wrote (via E! News):
“First of all, I want to make sure everyone is staying safe and practicing social distancing. Please know that I’m thinking of you all. I wanted to tell you, that after a lot of deliberation, I’ve made the incredibly tough decision to postpone the release of Chromatica. I will announce a new 2020 release date soon. This is such a hectic and scary time for all of us, and while I believe art is one of the strongest things we have to provide joy and healing to each other during times like this, it just doesn’t feel right to me to release this album with all that is going on during this global pandemic.”
She also said her next Vegas shows at the MGM from April 30-May 11 are postponed. Her tour, the Chromatica Ball, will still happen this summer, though. Gaga explained she had a secret Coachella set planned, but alas, disease struck and now that’s not going to happen:
“I had so many fun things planned for us to celebrate together… I had a secret Coachella set lined up, and a lot of other fun surprises, some of which I’m still planning to share with all of you very soon! Chromatica is still very much on the way and I can’t wait.”
And she apologized to her fans and told them to stay home and be nice (good luck with that, Little Monsters):
Oh perfect, the Little Monsters are going to fucking riot. Just what we needed, a vengeful virus spreading through the world punishing those around them who get too close at the same time as COVID-19. Catch some angry coronavirus-positive Little Monsters live-streaming themselves licking railings until Lady Gaga releases her album.
