As we know, seniors are the most vulnerable to the coronavirus right now. Which is why this latest video has lit up the internet AND everybody’s collective spirits. Organizers at one senior care facility in Wales have managed to take some of their wheelchair-bound residents’ minds off of the horribly shitty climate by putting together a spirited, life-sized game of Hungry, Hungry Hippos. And the results are just what you need right now.
Members of the Bryn Celyn Care Home attached baskets to long poles and gathered some rubber balls in the center of the room––and had volunteers and staff push some willing participants into the fray to snatch up as many as possible. This is honestly TOO. WHOLESOME. But I’m so glad I watched it. And will continue to watch it for days.
Residents really enjoyed playing a new game today Hungry Hippos. Lots of laughter to lift morale of the team and residents! 🦛😀❤️

BBC journalist Catrin Nye happened to catch wind of the story. And once she reported on the party, she was quick to share the news that the care facility is actually hiring staff. So, if you are in the South Wales area, this heartwarming scene could be your reality and you could spend part of your day playing Hungry, Hungry Memaw while resisting the urge to kick the wheelchair pusher next to you so that your team can win!
