Tom Brady Is Leaving The New England Patriots
Tom Brady was the number one trending topic on Twitter this morning because he is officially no longer with the New England Patriots. Gisele Bündchen‘s husband is hanging it up with the team after a twenty year career, six Super Bowl wins, an important cameo in Ben Affleck’s nanny cheating scandal, and one conspiracy to deflate footballs for which a judge let him all the way off the hook. 42-year-old Tom is ready to move on and deflate footballs somewhere else!
Tom gave two statements on Twitter about his departure from the team. The first one he titled “FOREVER A PATRIOT” and it went out to his teammates, head coach Bill Belichick, and the rest of the Patriots crew (via NBC News):
“To all my teammates, coaches, executives and staff, Coach Belichick, RKK and the Kraft family and the entire organization… I couldn’t be the man I am today without the relationships you have allowed me to build with you… Our team has always set a great standard in pro sports and I know it will continue to do just that. Although my football journey will take place elsewhere, I appreciate everything that we have achieved and am grateful for our incredible TEAM accomplishments.”

The second one’s titled “LOVE YOU PATS NATION” and is for the fans:
“MA has been my home for twenty years. It has truly been the happiest two decades I could have envisioned in my life and I have nothing but love and gratitude for my time in New England… The support has been overwhelming–I wish every player could experience it. I can’t thank you enough for the support of our team. The packed training camps and sold out stadiums are mostly the victory parades. I have been so blessed to share them with you all… I don’t know what my football future holds but it is time for me to open up a new stage for my life and career.”

CEO of the team, Robert Kraft, took time away from his prostitutes (social isolation from coronavirus, remember?) to also write a statement about this:
“I love Tom like a son and I always will. He has brought so much happiness to me personally and to all of our fans. I had hoped this day would never come, but rather that Tom would end his remarkable career in a Patriots uniform after yet another Super Bowl championship. Unfortunately, the two sides were unable to reach an agreement to allow that dream to become a reality. While sad today, the overwhelming feeling I have is appreciation for his countless contributions to our team and community.”
Coach Belichick said words too:
“Tom was not just a player who bought into our program. He was one of its original creators. Tom lived and perpetuated our culture. On a daily basis, he was a tone setter and a bar raiser… He didn’t just perform. He didn’t just win. He won championships over and over again.”

Tom has been teasing such a move for a bit and only signed a two-year contract the last time he re-upped with the Patriots, so everyone knew he’d be a free agent come 2020. And Tom and Gisele don’t have to worry about going on welfare now that he’s out of a job, because he’s already getting $30+ million offers from other teams.
The #Bucs made a strong offer to QB Tom Brady believed to be $30M or more. The #Chargers did, as well. And now, he’s leaving New England.

And Tom did this on a St. Patrick’s Day when bars in Boston are closed due to coronavirus, so fans can’t even drown their sorrows in green beer together. Cruel! If you’re wondering how Pats super fan Chris Evans is doing, he took a break from crying into his Tom Brady plush pillow to cry while firmly kissing Tom Brady’s ass on Twitter. So he’s going to be okay! I think.
To the greatest quarterback of all time,
Thank you for 20 years of excellence. It was a privilege to watch you work, @TomBrady. #GOAT— Chris Evans (@ChrisEvans) March 17, 2020
