Jason Statham Split With His Agency As He’s Accused Of Having “One Of The Biggest Egos In Hollywood”

You mean to tell me that a multi-million dollar action star is an egotistical asshole? That snatched my wig and now I’m as bald as Jason Statham.

52-year-old Jason Statham recently exited a movie over script issues, and now we’re hearing that he’s parted ways with his manager as well as his talent agency. And sources are saying it’s because he’s got “one of the biggest egos”. Okay, but what else about him is big? That’s what inquiring (and dirty) minds really want to know.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Jason has been replaced by Woody Harrelson for Sony’s upcoming comedy The Man From Toronto. The movie, also starring Kevin Hart, was supposed to start production next month (“Yeah, we’ll see about that,” said coronavirus) but Jason wanted some last minute changes to the script. Namely he wanted it to be an R-rated comedy, but execs were very hesitant; wanting to be able to get as wide an audience as possible.

So Jason told his agents at WME to get him out of the movie. Sources say that his agents pushed him to not quit since they had negotiated a gigantic $10 million fee for the movie and dropping out a month before production was a bad look. They also reminded him that a PG-13 rating widens the audience, which means more ticket sales, which is why Sony paid him $10 million. But Jason didn’t give a fuck and broke up with WME. He also broke up with his manager, Steve Chasman, several months ago. But other sources say that it was WME who did the breaking up. Jason has only been with WME for under a year. Before that, he was with CAA and left them last April.

Sources say that Jason’s made demands before, like asking not to get beat up too badly in the Fast & Furious movies, because he’s a thespian, not a damn MMA fighter! The Rock and Vin Diesel both had the same request. But WME “drew the line” at Jason’s request for content changes. One source (probably WME) called him out for being an egomaniac and another source (probably someone from Team Statham) defended him:

“He’s got one of the biggest egos in Hollywood,” says a source close to the situation. A Statham source, though, blames the blowup on Sony rushing the project.

“If a script was there or not, they were going to start shooting,” he says. “That’s not his style.”

Whatever the case may be, I hope that when they split, Jason didn’t thoroughly spit on his agents, unless they’re into that sort of thing, which they shouldn’t be in these times of corona!
