Lucky The Therapy Chihuahua!

As someone who lives on the internet and spends more time with Safari than my own family, I slapped myself down while calling myself an amateur internet time waster, because I barely became aware of the therapeutic brilliance of Dr. Lucky!

Paul Rugg, a writer, voice actor, and puppeteer introduced the world to the Sigmund Freud of our time years ago in a video on his YouTube channel. Paul starts the video off with Lucky at his side, and tells us that after a long day of work, he likes to unwind his knotted-up nerves by petting his Lucky. Who needs sipping red wine and vaping in a Calgon bath with Pure Moods playing in the background when you’ve got Lucky? Lucky is a living, breathing stress ball of relaxation. And while talking about how oxytocin, aka the love hormone, is released from his brain as he partakes in the soothing act of petting Lucky, Lucky shows us her therapy skills by responding with the ancient chihuahua therapeutic technique of TRYING TO BITE A BITCH’S HAND OFF.

That video has apparently made the rounds several times throughout the years, but I barely caught it during its latest lap around the internet.

My dog obviously didn’t get his PhD in Psychology from Stanford University like Dr. Lucky here did, because he doesn’t try to stab my fingers with his teeth when I pet him. He just lets me know how he feels about me touching him by farting. So wait, maybe that makes him an expert in aromatherapy?

Since that first video went up, Paul has posted more videos where Dr. Lucky treats other patients:

The most recent video of Lucky is from three months ago, and shows his trip to the vet. Lucky is A-OK with a vet shoving wood down his throat (me too, Lucky!) but isn’t about Paul’s hands. Now we know that Hands by Jewel is Lucky’s least favorite song.

Hopefully this newest internet exposure will lead to Dr. Lucky getting his own show. Sure, he’ll bite the hands of all of his guests, but that still makes him less damaging than Dr. Phil.
