According to The Daily Mail, Prince Andrew celebrated his 60th birthday with a scaled down intimate family gathering instead of the “lavish bash” (via New York Post) his mother The Queen had previously planned for him. It was so intimate in fact, that his own siblings, Prince Charles, Princess Anne and Prince Edward, were not in attendance. Instead, it was just Andrew and mumsy sitting criss-cross applesauce on the dining room table with a sad Tesco birthday cake between them like Sam and Jake Ryan in Sixteen Candles. Oh, and Formula One racing billionaire Bernie Ecclestone was also there. Plus a few others. But just like 50 people including China’s UK ambassador Liu Xiaoming and “racing heir” Guy Sangster and his wife Fiona. Fun fact: Andrew partied with Guy and Fiona at Tramp nightclub “just 72 hours” after he, allegedly, profusely sweated upon Virginia Giuffre at the very same club!
The DM reports that “an eclectic group of 50 or so friends” gathered for a private dinner party at Royal Lodge, Andrew and ex-wife Original Fergie’s Windsor residence, to celebrate Andrew’s birthday last week. Unfortunately, the evening didn’t kick off with guests being served happy hour cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on Gloria Allred‘s party bus beforehand.

Fergie’s assistant was in charge of sending out “follow up” invitations since a lot of Andrew’s friends are, inexplicably, super into washing their hair these days.
The extra effort worked a treat. ‘Neither of Andrew’s brothers was there, nor was [Princess] Anne, but it was a wonderful party,’ I’m told. ‘A really good range of people.’
The lucky guests are reluctant to chat too freely about such an intimate occasion. However, I gather that the evening concluded with ‘a few games after dinner’ of the high-spirited sort that the Royal Family has favoured for generations.
So, a rowdy game of Boar on the Floor followed by some light Victorian charades. As we know too well, Andrew really is the apple of The Queen’s eye. According to Page Six, on his actual birthday, which was on February 19, she posted a loving message on Twitter which was met with many “oohs” and “ahhs” (pronounced “ews” and “ahhellnos”).

Maybe next year Andrew will have his birthday party in the U.S. I hear the Pizza Express in Quantico is really good!
