Jessica Simpson And Papa Joe Don’t Talk About His Sexuality After He “Betrayed” Her Mother

The return of Jessica Simpson is upon us thanks to her memoir Open Book. So far we’ve learned that she’s a survivor of child abuse, got sober after her relationship with John Mayer drove her to drink, and confirmed that Justin Timberlake is a certified douche. Now Papa Joe has made a guest appearance, and Jessica writes in her memoirs that he “betrayed” her mother and they keep talk of his sexuality in the closet.

61-year-old Joe and Jessica’s mom, 60-year-old Tina Simpson, were married for 34 years before their divorce was finalized in 2013. Rumors claimed that Joe’s infidelity was the cause of their split, specifically that he cheated on Tina with a boy toy twink. It was then rumored that Tina considered pulling a murder/suicide move after finding out that Papa Joe is gay.

Page Six says that Jessica believes Papa Joe “betrayed” his marriage in August 2012. She writes in Open Book:

“In August, my mother discovered that my father had betrayed their marriage, just as she and I thought things were turning around for them… She had just told me what a nice time they had together on their anniversary, and she thought maybe they had turned a corner. I thought so, too. When she confronted him, my dad began calling me, and I would not pick up.”

Joe pulled up to Jessica’s in “full denial mode,” claiming he would never have any twinks, not even Twinkie cereal:

“After all those times he’d flirted with the idea of rescuing himself, he couldn’t do it. “I’m not with anybody else,” he said. “I love your mother.” …Dad moved on quickly. And maybe he’d planned it so long that he had a running start ahead of my mother.”

Then in 2014, Joe asked to bring a special “friend” to her wedding to Eric Johnson.

“A young model he often shot for his new photography business… I reminded myself that I needed to accept my father for who he was as he worked it out in real-time.”

After her book came out, Jessica was asked about her dad’s sexuality by the Los Angeles Times and told them:

“That’s not something we talk about. That’s not my story to tell.”

She also called firing Joe as her manager “one of the hardest things” she’s done:

“The worst part was that I had [to] do it five times because he would not accept it. Too often I was circling back to people, only to find that Dad had made some move without telling me. People agreed to bad terms, thinking that was what I had demanded when, really, I had no idea. It left a lot of hurt feelings I didn’t know existed, and I knew I had to make the move to go forward with ownership of my own career.”

Yeah Jessica, of course he was sad! What else was Joe going to do? That “photography business” was not real–without managing you he’s just taking pictures of twinks and allegedly having sex with them! That’s not an income, Jessica.
