Cosmopolitan Pulled A “Bachelor” Contestant’s Digital Cover Over A “White Lives Matter” Photo Shoot

Last night on The Bachelor, a “competition” went down and it involved the contestants competing in a photo shoot. So the winner of the photo shoot (AKA the first woman to kiss Bachelor Peter Weber in front of the others) won a digital cover of Cosmopolitan. And one of the two Victorias–Victoria Fuller–took the prize. Welp, but that prize was worthless to Victoria F after Cosmo found out about her “White Lives Matter” modeling gig. I mean, what? The Bachelor producers couldn’t drag a White Lives Matter photoshoot out of a contestant’s closet? They’re losing their touch.

After The Bachelor’s season finishes filming and the identities of the contestants are known, the dirt rolls in and Victoria F’s past churned up a bunch of shit. Most notably, a White Lives Matter photo shoot she did complete with a Confederate flag. The shoot was for The White Marlin Marina and was being passed off as a way to promote the conservation of marlins. So, they claim that their “White Lives Matters” merchandise was referring to white marlins, and their “Blue Lives Matters” merchandise was referring to blue marlins. They knew what they were doing and it didn’t go down well. And toss in the Confederate theme and it gets worse:

Also back in 2016, the designer, George Lamplugh, told USA Today:

“Any person who sees the shirt and sees that flag will know what it’s for.”

Which says it all. Cosmo‘s editor-in-chief, Jessica Pels, shared a letter online last night which revealed that Victoria was cut:

“Unequivocally, the White Lives Matter movement does not reflect the values of the Cosmo brand. We stand in solidarity with Black Lives Matter, and any cause that fights to end injustices for people of color… When my team and I flew down to Costa Rica for our challenge, we weren’t told who our models were going to be… So when it came time for me to choose the winner of the challenge–whose prize was a digital cover of Cosmo–all I knew about the contestants were their first names and the energy they conveyed through the camera lens. It wasn’t until a few weeks ago that I found out that the woman I’d chosen had, in her past, modeled in an ad campaign wearing White Lives Matter attire… My team and I had many long discussions about how we wanted to address this issue. We’d already printed the fashion shoot in our March issue, complete with an inset of the cover, and of course, the episode had already been filmed. Ultimately what felt right was choosing not to publish the digital cover on our website or social feeds, and simply being honest with you, the audience we respect, about what happened and where we stand.”

How dare Victoria F do this?! A “White Lives Matter” photo shoot?! Save that kind of messiness for the show! ABC can’t totally make money off of your bad behavior unless it’s on-camera!
