Charlie Hunnam Is Sorry For Hurting His Girlfriend Morgana McNelis’ Feelings With The Crap He Said About Marriage
Charlie Hunnam once admitted to ghosting his girlfriend of over ten years fourteen years Morgana McNelis while shooting The Lost City of Z, because he wanted to focus on his ART! So he’s obviously a major romantic, and proved that again during an interview when he told everyone that Morgana is hard up for marriage and he’s “eh” about the whole thing but will do it if he has to. But don’t take the award for biggest romantic away from Justin Bieber and give it to Charlie just yet, because Charlie is now saying that what he said was stupid and not his true thoughts. Something tells me that even his thrusting muscly ass couldn’t get him out of the dog house with Morgana.
See, had this been an episode of Sons of Anarchy, Jax would have told his lady to shut up, get naked and bring him a beer. However Charlie is not about that life at all and his recent comments about his feelings toward marriage upset Morgana.
People reports that while doing press, along with Hugh Grant and Matthew McConaughey, for The Gentlemen, Charlie was asked directly by Andy Cohen on Andy’s Sirius XM show how he felt about marriage and he revealed he’s indifferent toward the idea but would do it only because of his girlfriend.
“Umm, sort of indifferent. She does not feel the same. She is very eager to get married. I’ll do it because it’s important to her, but I don’t have any, sort of, great romantic feelings towards it.”
Charlie was married to Katharine Towne from 1999 to 2002, and called their marriage terrible, painful, and expensive. So that shitty marriage is probably why he’s not really into marriage. But once Morgana heard his statement, she must have told him she was planning on mooo-ving on without his ass because he immediately took all that shit back.
“I know I gotta say, that really hurt my girlfriend’s feelings and I really regretted saying that,” Hunnam admitted. “I actually didn’t mean it at all, it was, frankly, just stupid s— I said in the heat of the moment.”
Charlie didn’t stop there. After blaming his answer on being tired from all the promotion he’s been doing for the movie, he then brought Hugh into it.
“Sometimes the tone of an interview, you know, that interview was just like a lot of banter and Hugh [Grant] was sort of bantering in a very sort of superficial — not disingenuous — but not really speaking his personal truth, we’re all just bantering,” he said. “And all of a sudden we’re bantering about one thing and I get asked my opinion about marriage. I just said something that doesn’t really reflect my true thoughts at all.”
I don’t think any of us will be shocked when Charlie and Morgana pop up with a huge engagement announcement later this year. And by later this year I mean tomorrow.
