Tommy Davidson Reveals He And Will Smith Almost Fought Over Jada Pinkett Smith

You have to respect the hustle of most celebrities because they’re always trying to sell you something. And no, not like back in the ’90s when celebrities like Cher and Richard Simmons bombarded our television screens by trying to hock their wares through the power of infomercials. These days celebs would rather sell their shit by revealing new information we may not have been privy to before. And this is exactly the case with comedian Tommy Davidson, who is attempting to sell his new memoir by informing everyone that back in the day, Will Smith was ready to kick his ass over current wife Jada Pinkett Smith.

Page Six reports that Tommy, who was one of the original cast members of In Living Color, has just released his new memoir titled Living In Color. And one of his colorful tales involves a time he was working with Jada on the classic trash-terpiece Woo. Tommy decided that the original ending for the film needed to be reworked. So he had a conference call with Jada and the producers to talk about how he wanted to change the ending to show himself and Jada dancing over the credits. Everyone agreed to that. However, there was another little move Tommy had cooked up in his mind for the ending that he shared with everyone, except Jada.

Although Davidson had discussed with a producer the idea of also kissing the “Girls Trip” star, he hadn’t mentioned it to her.

“I didn’t know this: You have to rehearse a kiss,” he writes. “You can’t just spring it on your costar … And I didn’t think it was all that big of a deal.”

Of course, when it came time for Tommy to go in for the kiss, Jada recoiled quickly and looked at him like he had lost his mind. And what made matters worse is that Will was right there on set, and he wasn’t here for any of Tommy’s awkward moves on his lady.

“Will went all gangsta on me, saying what I did was not cool,” Davidson says in the book. “There was a moment there when we might have come to blows. My reactive fight-or-flight instinct was triggered and I could have exploded.”

Luckily, Jada who had followed Will into the trailer, defused the scene, according to Davidson. (Before the film was released, Jada and Will had wed and she’s billed as Jada Pinkett Smith on the movie).

I think Jada diffused the situation because she and Tommy are about the same height and Will, who’s over six feet tall, would have instantly squashed Tommy like Optimus Prime stomping on Papa Smurf. Then again, this is Tommy Davidson we’re talking about. He’s a man who has always been vocal about his issues with substance abuse so who knows? Will may have tried to hit Tommy at the moment the drugs kicked in and he would have thrown Will across the room like an unwanted Dollar Tree toy at Christmastime. Actually, Tommy should have put that in the book instead.
