Ewan McGregor And Chris Messina Think Their “Birds of Prey” Characters Are Probably Gay

If you’re a queer person who feels like they weren’t sufficiently pandered to this week, have we got the interview for you! Ewan McGregor and that sexy dancer Chris Messina play the villains in the upcoming Harley Quinn flick, Birds of Prey, and they’ve seen fit to tease and tantalize us with the insider knowledge that their characters are probably gay and in love. Seeing as this isn’t a very special episode of L.A. Law in 1991, allow me to type some ZZZZZZZZZZZ.

Ewan plays Roman Sionis (aka “Black Mask” in the comics) and Chris is his henchman Victor Zsasz in the Harley Quinn movie with the long title that Michael K doesn’t pay me enough to type out. Variety asked them at the opening of Harleywood (an “activation” celebrating the movie’s opening) if it was true their characters engaged in the love that used to dare not speak its name and now just says “here” when the teacher takes attendance. They got cagey but then said yeah, probs. They also kissed. Sorta. Just fuck or get off the pot, you two.

“It’s very complicated,” McGregor said. “Their relationship is very much based…there’s a want and a need in there for sure.”

Messina added, “There’s like a real love of anarchy.”

McGregor then interjected and said, “More than likely, yes.” Both actors laughed.

Before the interview began, Messina planted a kiss on McGregor’s cheek.

Whether or not Ewan and Chris’ characters are doing it in the movie, Rosie Perez’s cop character Renee Montoya is openly gay and Ali Wong plays her ex. I’d much rather see Rosie Perez make out with Ali Wong than watch these two characters dance around their mutual unspoken lust, which is just plain annoying.
