Kanye West Is Performing At Awaken2020 Alongside A Plethora Of Anti-LGBTQ Speakers

In Where Else Was This Going News, newly-religious Kanye West will do an event with anti-gay religious leaders this weekend. Yeah, sounds about right. When you go all the way into far-right religiosity and start talking about how checking hymens is “God-approved” and making your wife wear conservative clothing, the next step is: “Stop the gays from mobilizing.” And here we are.

Pink News says that Kanye West will be attending the Awaken2020 event in Tempe, Arizona this weekend. Awaken is a gigantic evangelical prayer rally which will take place in a football stadium which can fit 50,000 people. So a lot of religious extremism going on. The website describes the event as:

“Time for you to be part of the Jesus awakening that is shifting HISTORY. Open the door and enter into a new era, a new decade, of revival that is bringing a movement of signs and wonders, healing of the sick, and preaching of the gospel.”

Enter: Kanye West. He will be performing with his Sunday Service choir at the event tomorrow, which is Saturday, not Sunday. Dumbass!

This should shock no one since Kanye has been hitting the religious circuit lately, doing cult meetings appearances with Joel Osteen and even planning a tour with him. This is the next step to that. One speaker at Awaken2020 is Ché Ahn, who leads the H Rock Church. H Rock believes marriage is “between one man and one woman”, and runs a ministry for healing the “sexual and relational issues that ensnare Christians into unhealthy living”. Such issues include “gender identity issues” and “same-sex attraction”. So a conversion camp.

Another Awaken2020 speaker is Lou Engle, who hates same-sex marriage and abortion. Lou likes to recount “visions” and “dreams” which sound basically like far-right acid trips. In one post on his site he regales:

“We received a dream in which twin tornadoes had come to destroy America. Each tornado had the letters “HA HA” written across it. We knew that the “H” stood for homosexuality and the “A” for abortion. These principalities were mocking spirits that had to be overcome in order to turn the nation.”

And another one:

“I sent my son to San Francisco with a group of people to pray for three years. They actually had a dream. They saw a three-story homosexual man, a huge giant, and they were throwing like rocks at it and nothing would happen to it, and then suddenly the foreman rolled a scroll and it read “Jehu’s Covenantal Community”, and the giant shriveled to nothing!”

And lets finish off with a third Awaken speaker, Cindy Jacobs, who said if the Equality Act passed in the US–which protects LGBTQ+ people from discrimination–that Christians would start a civil war in retaliation. So Kanye West is really finding himself in some good company here, hmm?

I guess we’ll see what happens in the end. Kris Jenner is unsrcupulous and will only get angry if this affects her money. She’ll have to crunch the numbers and if the far-right evangelicals will spend more money on KKW Beauty than the gays will, she’ll let Kanye slide. But lucky for her I don’t think the Venn Diagram of Social Justice-gays and Kim Kardashian West-loving-gays have too many people in common.
